I don't post there myself but I know it's popular. There will be some seriously hacked off posters if it's not fixed soon. Specially as it's the weekend.

I had a mail from BDG, 28 Feb (I think all posters there did), concerned about the swearing outside the XXX part of the site, I think the admin/mods were having real problems maintaining an acceptable level of decorum. She ended with

>> I'm not prepared to put my name to a site that has loads of f words in the general area ......... either that or the board goes, so it's up to you ALL to share in the responsibility.
<<

Now I don't visit regularly and didn't follow any threads about swearing this week, so I don't know if that was the reason for closure.

I think a forum policy has to be one thing or the other. Jezza's site wants people to rant and rage about stuff but not swear??? If they don't want swearing then don't encourage ranting, but request polite discussion like we manage to do here.

Moderation is almost non-existent here, I think since end-Jan only Iain Smith has been modded once Smile

It does get a bit q-u-i-e-t sometimes Confused

I understand that Jezza's has a place for ranting and swearing and their policy seems good to me. I folk can't abide by the rules they must accept the consequences. A weekend in purdah might do some of them good if what I hear is right.

I think it was rather silly setting up that board in the first place, in all honesty. The Radio 2 NACA board was bad enough and it was clear which way it would go. It's one thing to have a bit of fun but quite another when people start getting rude and insulting. I'd close it down if it were mine. Life's too short.

Helen,

So, is the swearing issue the reason for closure?

She said....

"The following is an email sent to you by an administrator of "Jezza's Exiles Online".

The board will be up and running again shortly.

Many thanks to all of those of you who have shown such support to the site and for the personal emails I have received today.

Hope you all have a good weekend, see you again on Monday.

Sorry just having my tea! There were other reasons John.

Yes, it'll be back up on Monday if not before.

Sounds like the honeymoon's over. Not much fun in running a busy MB - most people will take everything to limit, and then further!

Yeah, I just noticed the same mail in my inbox.

Obviously issues there, but as I'm not a regular visitor I'll leave it at that and hope Becky re-starts without any hassle.

It's certainly very popular, many, many posts. It's Becky's fault it's so popular, I think she's done a wonderful job in getting it all sorted out!

I'm sure everything will be back to normal by Monday, albeit with a few less posters who provoke other people to extremes!

I've just noticed that you can log into Jezza's now although all the forums are locked.
Looks like the topic layout has been revamped and......

There's no XXX room to be seen! Shocked

Yes, I just checked too. Private messages can't be accessed, have to wait till Monday I expect.

The latest announcement says:

Quote:
Changes to the Jeremy Vine Board: This will centre around the show but you can post other news of the DAY whether it be earth shattering or trivial. Please note any topics that are not applicable will be removed and the management’s decision will be final.

I wonder what is not applicable? Anything not in the show and not current affairs? But they have a 'Bar & General Chat'. So to me it's not clear what will be modded.

They can control swearing using 'word censors' like we do here, so I cannot call anyone a very silly pillock. Laughing

see, it does work Razz

I've just noticed that they've changed the template away from the default SubSilver to a new one, and many less categories.

And it's changed again!

Looks a bit of a waste of time and space to me...... I think I'll stick with this one. I don't like the Jeremy Vine show anyhow, and I still don't like the way lovely old JY was unceremoniously booted out.

Oh dear, the XXX room is being removed. Thought so, it's a pity really, I can't see what harm it was doing, we're all adults. Sad

As some one who has never joined up to Jezza's exiles, enlighten me on what happens in the XXX room? Laughing

It's a place where one could rant and rave using all the expletives you want (apart from one) either about an experience or news story or the boss etc etc.
They also had a Smutty Story 3 word thread which at times was hilarious.
I'll miss it big time.... Crying or Very sad

No, I received an email this afternoon setting out the changes and why they have been introduced. The reference to the XXX room was short and sweet..
"XXX Room This is in the process of being removed from the board."
I think it's a mistake personally.
