Les Reed, the composer of the RNI theme tune 'Man of Action' has died aged 83 years. This music always brings tears to my eyes, remembering how it was played over and over when the ship was under attack and set on fire. R.I.P. Les. Crying or Very sad

I'm not familiar with that piece of music,Angela, but knew his name from other works he has composed.

A lovely tribute to him from Connie Francis..

I cannot begin to tell you how saddened I am by the loss of my dear friend, Les Reed.

Les gave new meaning to the word "gentleman". He was an outstanding musician and composer. I loved working with this wonderful man. Recording the "Songs of Les Reed" was one of the highlights of my life. Godspeed Les, you will always live in my heart.

R.I.P.

Sad news. I'm not familiar with that track but loved so many of his other songs.

Wow! All these years and I never knew he wrote There's A Kind Of Hush and Here It Comes Again. Two records that give me uncontrollable goosebumps and endless pleasure. Thanks for that, H.

There was a period in the late sixties, when Les Reed and Barry Mason practically monopolised chart ballads, either as a songwriting team, or separately. Mostly for Tom and Englebert.

I suppose we'd better get used to all the sixties alumni saying farewell...though of course, we never will.
