Got to say I've really enjoyed the shows I've listened to.

The top 100 countdown was good but for me the programme that stood out was Ken Bruce's 'Motown Covered'.

So many brilliant archives from the Piano Room and those from Tracks of my Years, especially Holland Dozier Holland from 2004. Some I'd forgotten some I'd remembered hearing at the time.

2 reasons why it stood out apart from the content :-

Ken's brilliant broadcasting. The 2nd, and probably the most important, it was recorded! No stupid emails, texts etc saying they sunning in the garden.

Give it a listen!

H

Edited to add that Motown Loves Northern Soul which I'm listening to right now is good. Sadly I remember many NS tracks before they even called them Northern Soul.

Many thanks, H. I listened to it, after reading your recommendation. It was the best Motown thing I've heard so far, having listened to the two that were on yesterday afternoon.

Some nice little surprises there, too. I must mention the Marvin Gaye live version of 'Distant Lover'. I'd never heard it before. Completely knocked my socks off.

I'd die happy if I never had to hear Michael Ball murdering For Once In My Life, though....but the rest of those covers were superb. A lovely 2 hours of radio.

Glad you enjoyed it Raver! I hadn't heard Marvin's Distant Lover either.

Also agree about Michael Ball...........
