Blimey, this section hasn't been posted on since 2015, when I still had a dad!
Whilst looking through my bookmarks I came upon this, from when I would have had Radio 2 on for much of the day and into the night. I remember that week well and wishing I was in the north-east of the UK to enjoy it 'in the flesh' so to speak, but no, I am several hundred miles away and so had to make do with hearing it on the radio, though I do remember winning a few CDs in a competition in one of the shows: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2003/09_september/03/radio2_newcastle.pdf

The nearest I could get to being there was those shows that were webcast. I, of course was wishing they would one day / year do something like it in my local shopping centre but it never happened. Maybe Aldershot's too small a place, but one can dream, and I did!!

Towards the bottom of the first link there is a list of presenters that have now all gone apart from Jools Holland & Ken Bruce.

Noticed the name of Graham Bickley, LEE, on the Friday Night Is Music Night section.

I remember him as the second Joey in Bread. Smile

Here he is singing Music of the Night.

I saw him live on stage in Sunset Boulevard in the West End in 1997, opposite Petula Clarke as Norma Desmond. I also recently spotted him in the Saturday Night Fever episode of The Goodies from 1980!

Decent voice listening to Music of the Night.

Heard on the radio, the other day, that Petula Clark celebrated her 88th birthday on the 15th of this month.
