This doesn't look good.
================================

The BBC has admitted that a child visiting the Blue Peter studio was asked to call in to the programme in order to give a competition answer on air after the show's premium rate telephone service suffered a technical failure.

The producer, called the faking of the competition an "exceptional incident", and said the person responsible had acted "in a panic".

But speaking to Radio Five Live he refused to rule out the possibility that staff would be sacked over the incident.

A freephone number - 08000 565 363 - is available for viewers who took part in the competition and would like more information.

Viewers can also find information on the CBBC website following today's Blue Peter broadcast.
=============================
So now they are offering councelling to the children who have lost faith in the world as a result of this deception.

That's it then.... the world as we know it has come to an end.

If you can't trust Blue Peter, what hope is left?

Their apology on air tonight was pathetic. They didn't really even admit properly that what they did was wrong. They kept referring to it as an "error". TV people are no better than tabloid journalists these days.

I see GMTV is still running their 60p x 1 min 30 sec competitons still. I wonder how they are allowed to continue with this or is GMTV a seperate company?

This farce will die out soon, it's only because it's the big news story of the week and the press are trying to find any story releating to TV programme phone scams. It was stupid story regarding David Gest on Tuesday, what are they going too do send him back into the jungle!!

I'm convinced that the average TV person thinks that Ethics is a county to the north of London. It great to see these people who lecture others about their behaviour being exposed.

The producer of Blue Peter actually has form - years ago he was sacked from Doctor Who Magazine after his editor discovered all the brilliant interviews he'd been getting weren't his at all. He'd simply rewritten them from small fanzines and passed it off as his own work.

There seems to be more dirty little secrets coming out now. The latest one is that the BBC hired child actors to play “winners” on a top children’s show.

They were said to have been picked two days before CBBC’s Sunday morning Smile programme to make the 10p-a-call Jam Buster games look live.

The BBC said kids from the Stagecoach Agency had been drafted in five times but denied they were paid.
