There's very little left now.
R2 (and the BBC generally) increasingly seems to have its sights set on oblivion.
......and I still don't believe this can be accidental!

This on the day after 5Live announce that they will be stopping the classified football scores on a Saturday after 70 years, makes you think that the BBC don't give a damn for their listeners

Paul would never have 'quit' his show, if he hadn't been shafted by having to share with Rob Beckett. They knew he'd eventually leave after that. Nasty and shoddy - but then it's not the first time a radio presenter is treated like that.

Or listeners, come to that. As somebody who enjoys listening to the football results at five o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, I was extremely peed off when I found out. Apparently they're still going to play 'Out Of The Blue', which in a way, is even more ridiculous, because one belongs to the other. All because they've got the contract to air the early evening Prem fixture. A very poor excuse. All they had to do was not broadcast the inevitable waffle from whoever is involved on that particular evening, which nobody cares about anyway.

Cultural vandalism.

PS...I suspect they would have gotten rid of 'Blue' as well, if it wasn't for Mark Chapman. When he was offered the job years ago, he stipulated that he wanted Out Of The Blue played before the results again.

Gosh they really are leaving in droves. I've enjoyed so many of Malcolm's shows over the years.

Didn't take much to work it out, but Paul confirmed it...

My understanding is Malcolm was going to leave 2 years ago but was persuaded to stay on producing Graham Norton and Paul O'Grady. Of course, Norton went soon after and now O'Grady's gone it seems he's had enough too.

I wonder if they're planning something together elsewhere?

Yet another shoddy way to treat staff. It's interesting that Malcolm Prince, like Simon Mayo when he left, doesn't mention the current controller.

I noticed he left her out too. She's certainly made a name for herself !

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up on Boom. I think they may well have been in touch.

And so it continues. Roger Bolton, who is a bit of a legend on radio and a few years back, TV, had had the carpet pulled from under his feet. The BBC seem to be in competition with this Govt, to see who can out nasty one another.

I read that Raver, seems nobody is safe at the moment.

The programme will continue though, not sure if it will be as good.

I can't understand why the BBC is going all out to attract younger listeners, it won't happen, all they are doing is alienating the listeners they did have.
Roger Bolton will be a huge miss on Feedback and I have just found this

Thanks for the link, Angela. Roger's last sentence spoke volumes.

I really can't envisage Radio 4 managing to snare a younger audience. That's just not what it's supposed to be about! It's the bosses who should be getting their P45s.

When you go on 'Sounds' - another ridiculous name, meant to reel in the 'yoof'. Christ..I used to use that term in the 70's! - sorry, sidetracked - yes, on 'Sounds' you will notice that R1 has FOUR stations! So why couldn't they cater for an older listener and do the same with R2 and R4?

I bet they all walk around Broadcasting House wearing back to front caps. Probably with 'Sounds' as a logo.

Broadcasters have been after "younger" listeners for decades. But young people have better things to do, and eventually settle down with Radio 4, or Radio 3 or Radio 2.

It's a fruitless, pointless chase. So much time and money wasted.

How many times has this been said in the past Ian? Will the BBC ever learn? Sadly I doubt it...........

The BBC constantly chasing the mythical youth audience which doesnt exist. A few years ago the ditched the woeful BBC3 and put it online in the hope that it would attract some viewers, recently they've brought it back to broadcast tv but at the expense of BBC4 - a channel more popular with older viewers. I don't know who makes these ridiculous decisions at the BBC but I would suggest that they try to keep their falling core audiences rather than trying to attract listeners and viewers who obtain their entertainment via other sources

According to Trevor Dann in this week's Radio Times Scott Mills won't be in Steve's seat long and will get Ken Bruce's show in a year or so.

Also don't bother complaing about anything on R2 to the BBC - they aren't interested! Well I think we already knew that......
