I have just received confirmation re Aled sitting in for Sarah - from Aled himself:
"I'm sitting in for sarah kennedy on bbc radio 2 from the 2nd january for 2 weeks and will continue to be on 2 in usual capacity i hope " (he doesn't always bother with capitals!)
and on the Achilles tendon:
"i have ruptured my achillies tendon and will not be returning to
panto im afraid...i tried everything to return but the injury is bad
and since it happened the pain isnt going away."
There is a checkup next week and if it is not healing, an operation will be necessary.
