It's taken me all this time to realise that there was a proper place for a Track of the Day that wasn't R2. What a dummy!

Not sure if I've heard the Eli Bonaparte before, but Roddy Frame...well, what a genius that man is. Small World is one of my favourite ever songs. Very familiar if ever you watched the magnificent Early Doors a few years back. I bought the DVD for my American son in law, who just didn't get it. When I see some of the things that he does listen to and watch, I feel happy about that.

If you've never seen it....it's now on iPlayer!

Just for you Raver! Glad you found us!!

Looks like Wayne Fontana also did a version.

I've listened to both just now. It appears that Wayne's version is the first one, H. That's the one for me as well. The production is miles better than Eli's, which is a bit muddy on that YT . I see from the record that it was co-written by Peter Shelley- he of Love Me, Love My Dog.I'm sure he had a paw into some Alvin Stardust records as well. Maybe I should have googled that but hey, live dangerously!

So yes, I liked the Wayne Fontana one. A penny for his thoughts when his bandmate Eric Stewart really hit the big time with 10cc. I always thought that his guitar solos on I'm Mandy Fly Me were absolutely top notch, not to mention his singing on it.

That link wasn't a good recording I agree, it sounded better on the radio!

Didn't realise Eric Stewart came from The Mindbenders! In which case means I saw him live when Wayne toured I think with the ill fated PJ Proby tour.......

Poor ol' Jim Proby. All that fuss over some split trousers. Great singer.

Yes a great singer Raver! Heard his version of I Apologise the other day, another great one of his.

Today's track of the day for me has been Swinging Blue Jeans and 'Don't Make Me Over' on Roger Day tonight.

Love that,Helen.

I thing the Blue Jeans do a good cover but prefer the Dionne Warwick version.

Proby's voice is a lot like Billy Eckstine, isn't it? Or Billy Eckasllike as I call him.

Here's something I didn't know about until hearing it on Boom.

Jim Proby used to demo some songs for Elvis. So add Presley to Eckstine.

PJ Proby - Fun In Acapulco

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mbx6WSJMpwk

Then I remembered Jack Good's Elvis, featuring Proby and Shakin' Stevens (who has a very nice record that's being played on Boom at the moment)

Listening to David Hamilton's Million Sellers on Boom Radio and was just about to pick Stars by Simply Red as my track of the day when it was followed by Kiss And Say Goodbye by The Manhattans. ❤️❤️

Sorry Mick - you were just pipped at the post. 😁

I follow him on Twitter - I think he'll take it well - seems a very decent chap. 😁

Track of the Day.

Everybody's Got to Learn - First Aid Kit
.
Les Ross played it on his programme on Boom Radio this morning.

Love the sound of these two sisters. 🥰

First Love Never Dies from the Walker Brothers on Simon Bates this afternoon.

Am enjoying his music on a Sunday afternoon!

My Track of the Day today is one I've heard a couple of times lately - the choice of a castaway on DID and this morning - on the listen again facility - played on a request programme on Boom Radio.

Lovely song - Fallen by Lauren Wood.

It was featured in the film Pretty Woman.

Track of the Day, for me, comes from the Les Ross show on Boom Radio.

Day After Day by Badfinger - love it!

Just turned Boom Radio on and right there was my Track of the Day - the gorgeous Castles in the Air by Don McLean. Could play it over and over again. 😍🥰
