If there was such a thing (imagine a bafta/gong/trophy/special awards dinner or something similar) who in your opinion would win it and more importantly the reasons why. Also think of one sentence to best describe the reasons.

My nomination would go to Richard Allinson for playing/bringing to our attention more new music/record releases in his daily radio show than anybody else.

At the awards ceremony when handing over the trophy to Richard I would expect someone to be saying be "The best accolade we can give you Richard is that you are our musical education".

Alex Lester. Not just because he is the best Presenter and puts out the most entertaining Radio show on the planet but because he does all of that before the Presneters who think they should win an award, have even got out of bed.

Bob Harris, for encouraging us to listen to new talent even when sane people should be firmly tucked up in bed. Very Happy

There is such an award an IIRC Chris Evans won it last year. Allinson was one of the judges I do believe Wink

Cue whails of angst and agony ..... now!

Yes, mark - I would agree with the Richard Allinson vote, obviously but nod's also to Bob Harris and also to Stuart Maconie for the same reason (well, before the critical list was changed to 'the cliche list' that is)

I'm going to nominate Brian Matthew, for continuing to present a varied selection from a golden age in such a friendly and informed manner and also for coming back after a long illness at an age when you couldn't have blamed him if he'd opted to retire.

Ian.

I'm with Rachel on this one.... Has to be Alex Lester-

We get an entertaining show during which the listener has loads of input, and Alex pulls out some great new music as well as older stuff that would probably never enter the usual Radio 2 radar.

Far as I'm concerned, the man is a master broadcaster.... and it all happens before 6am!

Yes, but what if we get a touch of insomnia?

Sorry LEE, but the danger is too great... they will have to be completely removed from the audio and video realm, otherwise the consequences to the general public could be disasterous! Laughing
