How about renaming the news as the hourly roundup of survey results, scare stories and promotions for upcoming BBC programmes"

Why bother with the news at all, most of it is recycled from the day before anyway. Rolling Eyes

What are the chances of them paying out for a new News jingle when they're lobbing sums of money like eight hundred grand at Wogan?

The one they've got (Get the streamers and the party poppers ready folks!) will be TEN at the beginning of April and like the quarter 2 schedule will be good for another ten years!

Do Guinness know about this I wonder? Surely the record length of time for any radio station anywhere in the world to go without updating their most-played jingle?!

Why on earth do we need to replace the news jingle? There must be better ways of spending the money.

Why do we have a jingle anyway! what's the matter with a good 3 second pause followed by " Here is the news from the BBC" and another healthy pause before a well healed toff tells us of the magnificent British achievements of the day.

maybe with some good marching music too.....

they could dig out some of those light music pieces from Eric Coates and use them to annouce the news.
