The city of Birmingham could be the worst place to live in Britain if you want to avoid climate change, according to one of Britain's leading climatologists in an interview for BBC One's Inside Out programme Climate Change Now (Friday 30 March at 7.30pm).
Dr David Viner, a senior scientist at the world renowned Climatic Research Unit, favours Somerset, South West Devon and inland North Norfolk as among the best places to live with climate change in the future.

Will it be too hot in the southeast to live then? How about places by the sea like Brighton, Margate or southport? |

They will be under-the-sea, not by-the-sea. |

Hot summer temperatures, coupled with air pollution and the tendency for extreme storms will make Birmingham an unpleasant place to live," said Dr Viner. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

NEOs possibly pose a greater threat to life than terrorism, yet the funds for Spaceguard and associated search facilities are meagre in comparison to the sums spent on the "War on Terror". Most NEOs that have carried out 'near misses' have only been spotted as they passed the Earth - I think 4179 Toutatis was the famous one, which would have done plenty of damage had it struck. As the article says, something like the Tunguska event of 1908 - when a bolide or small object exploded in mid air, causing a huge swathe of destruction - would cause something akin to a small nuke without the radiation effects. Even a relatively small chunk of rock - say something half a mile across - would cause untold damage. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I think there would still be some people complaining. The French for starters. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
