|
|
The Football Association is expected to announce on Friday that ITV and Setanta Sports have won the live rights to broadcast the FA Cup and England’s home international matches, currently owned by the BBC and British Sky Broadcasting.
The two companies, which were bidding against the BBC and BSkyB, offered more than £400m for the television rights for four years starting in August 2008.
=======================
So ITV have managed to lure the FA Cup and Dermot O'Leary away from the BBC in one day. That Michael Grade guy is a genius. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Not a football fan but I'm so pleased that Football is coming home to ITV... Sky is rubbish. |

I gave up watching ITV's equivalent of "Match of the Day" after a few weeks because it was so awful - thankfully the BBC got the rights to that back.
Somehow I doubt that ITV will emulate the BBC's recent coverage of the Cup from the early rounds onwards - no lure for advertisers, which is a pity because for me those were the best games to watch. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Don't forget the phone-in votes and competitions to fleece the gullible even more

Will the outcome of a draw be (a) a penalty shoot-out or (b) a telephone vote?

Maybe, ITV will ask you to vote to remove a player every 5 Minutes after full time, thus getting rid of Penalty shoot-outs. _________________ Geddon
