After 20 years at Radio2 , news to be announced later this week will report that Alex Lester, the legendary early morning presenter, will move to the afternoon show, currently overfilled by Steve Wright. Radio 2 insiders are already denying that the move has anything to do with Alex's recent secret marriage to a top BBC executive. It will be reported, that Alex will take over the big show at the begining of July following his month long holiday in June. In an interview Steve Wright , holding back the tears, said, well I've a good run and to be fair the writing's been on the wall for some time, Alex is a great guy and the best man for the job, I wish him well. Alex is said to be quietly pleased by the move.

This was part of the same announcement that Russell Brand is taking over from Terry Wogan at breakfast from July.
