Is it a lay in, wash the car, clean the bike, a drive or ride out in the afternoon. Well for me, in the winter, I wrap up warm and go & see one of my grandsons play footie or rugby. Today it was footie away at "bracing" Skeg, glorious day, the boys done good, won 2 - 0. Both goals were headers, psycho, that's my youngest grandson's nickname, scored the second. After the match we all went down to the beach & played footie! Dads ( and grand dads), against the boys, then off for fish & chips out of the paper. Great. Summer, out on me bike, anywhere but Skeg!

Saturday: Mrs W''s turn to do early tea, and she always comes up with a cooked breakfast, but NOTHING is done outside the house till SOTS is finished. Mrs W claims that she can't communicate with me at all between 8 and 10.
Shopping, walking, exercise bike, odd jobs, gardening from spring to autumn. In the evening, often out at the Sage or taking part in concerts with the choir in which I sing or am sometimes in the audience at other choirs' concerts. Otherwise watch recorded stuff on TV.
Sunday: My turn to do early tea. Church if I can possibly manage it. Otherwise family day, including visit from whichever sons are around and grandson if at all possible, for which I'm chauffeur. Always go to park if weather not too vile. Usually veg in front of recorded stuff on TV in evening (keep Sunday Half-Hour for Listen Again).
That's my weekend for most of the time. What's yours?

| In the spring / summer there's usually an event on at 'my second home' which is Popham airfield, if so then that'll take care of the day. If the weather is too foul, I might catch up with something on 'Listen Again' and then visit my locals in the afternoon. If I'm really lucky, I might get a flight with my mate, weather permitting & provided my mate is available of course. |

What a wonderful Sunday, little lie in, washed van & bike, went to footie, on bike, boys done good won 6 - 1, grandson man of the match. Went for a burn up on bike afterwards, came back via Boston, it was just making my grin bigger as I just steamed past all the traffic, especially the maniac in the Caterham 7 that cut me up as I was only doing 50 MPH, in a 50 limit. A burn up on my bike is what I like

What a waste of time that was, we cannot do without most vehicles on the road, and as for the others, well drive/ride and let drive/ride; as for t osses, well them that wants rid is t***ers, IMHO.

They did me in my 4x4 though.... 
Wife went off to a horse show, had a bit of a lay in, listened to one of my early sci fi stories on the bedside cd, fixed a couple of light fittings and a bog in our business (next door) served vegetables for 40, Beef lunch, successfully avoided my older brother spent the rest of the afternoon continuing to clear up our car park and drain down a big oil tank, all in the sunshine.
Even went out to Homebase with the top down this morning! jubbly... |

| I forgot to mention I always watch Lost on Sky 1 at 10pm each and every Sunday-my favourite TV programme although Dragon's Den is in a close 2nd place. |

I am currently catching up with Bob Harris's Saturday show of last night, as already stated been out to football, my wife does'nt love me or Sundays, especially when footie & biking season sort of mingle. I did prepare the veggies for dinner though!

| Rising at 8.00, off to the gym at 8,.30. Work out for an hour or so, (nobody else there!) drive back, late breakfast, then slob around surfing, sudoku-ing, feeling holier than thou for a while. Then proceed to pile back the calories I struggled to lose earlier in the day. grimacing through the EP gurgle-a-thon, reminisce to orange DW, and relax to JW. Brief dalliance with Titchmarsh, then more calories via a bottle of wine and dinner, then off to bed thanking my lucky stars I dont have to work for a living any more. And wondering why I am not losing any weight...... but there is always another day. For now, anyway. |

Already sharing one with an old (classic) biker in very tight leathers. Are you a Harley man? He's Matchless (he keeps telling me) but occasionally he takes out the Sunbeam, usually returning on the back of a breakdown vehicle. |

Hi Minx, I have trouble with the quotes to  No I am a Kwackers and Honda man, which Matchless does your other have have, not a G50 is it, if it is, he is a very lucky man. The Sunbeam must be worth a pretty penny, not your every day bike though. I am afraid that having had a C11G, C15, Gold Star and T100SS in the 60's I just want a reliable bike to ride these days. If I could get a Venom Thruxton, at a price I could afford, I might just be tempted; as for Hogs, they are just 2 wheeled tractors, IMHO. So I have to look elsewhere for someone to loose weight with, still maybe I could come and chat with your better half about bikes?

| The Matchless is a 1960 G12, (rebuilt by him) and the Sunbeam is a 1950 S8, so not mega bucks tied up there (but big enough as far as I am concerned). He'd appreciate bike talk anytime. Over here there are lots of "wrinklies" with bikes and there are regular run-outs in the mountains. Not for me anymore, two hours on a bike and it takes me two weeks to get my knees back together again. |

I mentioned Popham airfield in a previous message above. The airfield manager is also a very keen motorbike enthusiast, including veteran & vintage makes, so plenty of bikes to be seen there as well as planes as many bikers use the airfield as a stopping off point. If you're ever in the Hampshire area, why not look in there?

Sounds interesting me Lord, especially as I am interested in both bikes and aircraft, I have a friend that flies a microlite, with a cockpit. I have heard of Popham airfield, but cannot for the life of me remember with respect to what!

I guess Minx is not too keen on biking anymore, nor is sidecar, she tells me if she wants an exhilarating experience she can think of much warmer and more comfortable places than sat staring at the back of my helmet. And thats only when she has the courage to open her eyes!

| The most exhilarating experience I can remember whilst riding pillion (apart from the time on an enormous BMW tourer when HWMBO yelled at me to leap off as it suddenly toppled sideways on the brow of a hill), was when I almost fell asleep on a trip from Holyhead to Manchester. Only the timely intervention of a sharp wake-up call on the intercom between us saved the day. I think it must have been the relaxation of my vice-like grip on his belly button that alerted him to the impending disaster. Happy days, hey? Yeah right! |

The last time we had a real scare on a bike was in January 65, at Matlock Bath, racing from one cafe to another, we were 17! This on a C15, too fast into a corner along the river road, fell off and sidecar landed on my back, as we slid down the road.Thankfully more damage to my pride than either of us or my beloved Beeza; did I get the p*ss taken when we crept into the cafe by the rest of the gang!

Great Sunday, the boys dun good, drew yesterday and won 2-0 today, they is now the champions of the Mid Lincs Under 9B league, with 2 games left and not lost a game this season yet. And whats more youngest grandson was man of the match.

This morning's activity was a SAR exercise on a hilltop in the Scottish Borders. I think this was close enough....
Come the summer, I'm doing something along these lines every (or every other) weekend, whether it be a SAR ex, a Lifeboat Day or a local fly-in.

That's one hell of a piccie Cherskiy, I am off to do some flying, (microlite), over Anglesey, in May. Not been up in a microlite before and I am really looking forward to it, hope to get some good arerial shots of the island.
