Anyone else got (or getting) this?

Picked it up earlier and listening to it now. One of the best tracklistings on a Now album for some time!

Will be getting it before the end of the week.

Have to stay "current" so as not to make a complete fool of myself in front of the kids. Embarassed

Careful now seymourwhitebits,

I see that Now 66 includes Sugarbabes, Girls Aloud, Proclaimers, Kaiser Chiefs....... I don't think my kids would be impressed hearing me playing that lot. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, don't R2 play those tracks every flippin' day on the TW, KB and CE shows??

On any one day you could record just those R2 shows on your computer, bit of editing and you'd have Now 66 and probably Now 67 before it's been released Laughing

On the basis that the daytime presenters play a maximum of six new or current releases during their shows (Chris Evans played just two yesterday - I can't listen to him, I checked his playlist) you'd have to listen for an awfully long time to record enough to equate to the Now sets. Plus, you'd have to contend with all the waffling over the intros and outros.

I know you can cherry pick and download from itunes etc, but at 79p/99p a throw, even if you only really want half the tracks it works out quite expensive, especially as you can't then play them on anything other than your PC or ipod.

I've not yet succumbed to the lure of an ipod, or routine downloading, still preferring the tangible article, so I have bought Now 66. As nearly five months have passed since the last one there has been an abundance of chart material to try to squeeze onto it, so much so that the latest cuts by the likes of Gwen Stefani, Take That, Amy Winehouse and Jamelia are reserved, doubtless for Now 67, and we have the previous ones instead.

One anorak-like statistic of the set, and indicative of how far the fortunes of the UK's last major record company have fallen, is that, although the brand is an EMI one, and it is supposed to be an EMI/Universal collaboration, no less than 26 tracks are supplied by Universal, just six by EMI (and six by Sony BMG).

JW! Laughing

Didn't say I needed to like them Shocked , just know who they are Laughing

I like to collect music anyway so the now albums come in handy. At the risk of sounding like a right anorak I have every No.1 from the start of the charts to 2000 then it gets a bit patchy, and every US No.1 from the start of their charts ( 1956- hurray we beat them at something Laughing ) to 2001 and then stopped the US stuff as it was getting out of hand Embarassed

Dont drink or smoke so the money has to go on something Wink

Hey, haven't we met before? Or am I thinking of Shakyfan? Somebody told me before that they had all the No 1's.

Might have been one of the entrants in those R2OK Pop Quizzes I did.

seymourwhitebits, a couple of the R2ok quizzes are still 'live', you wanna have a go?

I have all the no 1s since 1986 on single (first 10 years on 7" and the remainder on CD) but a nice ebay person was selling a CDR with mp3s of all the no 1s from Nov 52 to Dec 05 last year and I parted with £3 for it!

I'm sure if you search for something like "UK No 1 Singles" you'll turn something up! There is one at the moment but they're looking for £10 plus £1.50 postage.

The one I bought missed out all the no 1s from Elvis, the Beatles and George Michael (solo stuff) but I had 1 compilation from each of those containing all the missing stuff. There was 1 other track missing This Ole House from 1981 but I had that one several times over! Smile

Rocket,

You can burn them to a CD and make your own compilation album - I think that's the great thing.

However, I take your point, an album on iTunes costs about £7.99, I then have to buy a disc, jewel case and paper to print the cover, for the same price I can go to play or any other internet shop and buy the 'real' album with nice glossy booklet.
