My idea of a great Bank Holiday weekend - F1!

This has to be the best season for ages - British Constructor looking good, and British driver looking good too! Lewis Hamilton has it... t'riffic prospect for this season. Alonso geting a sharp prod from the rear from the "rookie". My thoughts go out to Jensen Button. If there was ever a guy who arrived at the wrong time in the wrong place, this was it. Locked into a long term conract - let's hope Honda can get their act together earlier this season than they did last year.

Any other F1 followers out there?

I used to follow it years ago - plus a mate of mine works for Racemet, the weather service for F1 and the lucky chap gets to go to each race, hobnobbing with the drivers on occasions, not a bad job. Very Happy

Unfortunately for me, I lost interest in F1 when it became the Schumacher show a few years back, and concentrated on the World Rally Championships more, something I've always loved - especially when the Lombard used to come through 'Killer Kielder'.... for some reason they don't bother now, presumably because Wales is kinder to the cars! Laughing

Seems to me F1 is normally the guy on poll position wins, about as exiting as watching paint dry; now if you want something really exiting where overtaking actually happens many times per race, just go to Moto GP or World Superbikes Cool

British Superbikes is always worth a look- not into motor sport as a rule, but BSK is enjoyable.

Formula 1 is just a procession... whoever gets in front at the first corner and has the best pit stops winszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I used to enjoy it before M Schumacher dominated it and ruined it, but now it looks like we are in for some good racing, Sunday's race from malaysia was excellent.

Lets hope a few more teams can get up there with the leaders Very Happy

With you there, Significant Other used to work for an insurance company who covered all racing events. Still let it off to L Mans, where it as a good 3 days of beer, not washing and generally having a good time .
The boy did good tho' tough on Jensen B (not)

I went to one of the Lombard Rallies when I was in my twenties. All I can remember about it now is getting up at 2.00am, driving up the M6, standing in a clearing in the middle of a forest on a damp misty morning in pitch darkness, watching headlights come blazing down the road towards me, and whizzing past. Very exciting atmosphere, as was going to the Formula 3 (I think) racing at Oulton Park, but nothing beats watching on TV where you have a more or less complete picture of what is going on. And you can turn the volume down! Live racing hurts your ears Crying or Very sad

Noise! Tell me about it. I used to go to the 1000k endurance rallies at Brands and Goodwood. I never knew who was winning either. Just clapped politely.
F1 was worse. Even louder.
