There is a bad report out saying that customer service is getting worse. Staff in shops and even banks are getting rude to their customers.

We can all have bad and good days, but if you don't like dealing with the public then they are in the wrong job.

Has anyone had any bad experiences or even dished some out?

In 2002 an assistant in Marks and Spencer in Chester achieved the remarkable feat of 'serving' me without addressing a single word to me or interrupting her gossip to a colleague.

But there are many more good than bad out there. I know TESCO gets a knocking but most of the checkout operators at its Kingston Park branch in Newcastle upon Tyne are worth their weight in gold and make it a pleasure to shop there.

Not exactly bad customer service but I do have an amusing tale to share which occured during my weekly trip to the sprawling metropolis of my local Tesco.

Me at the checkout, all going well, loading shopping into bags, etc. All of the sudden it all comes to a halt.

Bloke on checkout is inspecting something from the fresh produce section, he looks puzzled, looks at the little card they keep beside the checkout, still no joy. he finally decides to consult me

Bloke on checkout: "excuse me"
Me: "yes"
BOC: "what sort of onions are these"
Me: *Stiffling laugh* "what those *points at bag*
BOC: "yeah these
Me: "erm, those are mushrooms mate"
BOC: "oh are they, are you sure"
Me: "yes they are"

Oh dear!
