Elton John - Are You Ready For Love, on Wogan today. Aaaarrggghh!
Elton has produced some brilliant stuff, especially in his early years, but all we ever seem to hear is this load of old bilge!
Come on Radio 2, play something from Yellow Brick Road or his eponymous album - or even the largely forgotten "21 at 33" from 1980.
AYRFL has become as ubiquitous as that awful Cher track that R2 are so fond of! _________________ MiS |

I'm guessing it's like Stevie Wonder with I Just Called To Say I Love You - a bleeding obvious hit when the man in his prime was capable of much better.
I noticed on the Hugh Padgham documentary they used a bit of Love Song, because Padgham had seen the photoes on the gatefold of 'Tumbleweed Connection' of Elton John with then producer Gus Dudgeon. In his teens, Padgham was very taken with the cool image of Dudgeon in his long hair and denims! _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

Yeah I heard some of that Doc, interesting.
Tumbleweed Connection, Elton John, Don't Shoot Me..., fine albums, so much to choose from and R2 play AYRFL ad nauseum.
Sigh... _________________ MiS |

There was a one hour documentary on Elton John on Monday night last at 8pm, just after the record producers. Paul Sexton presented it and a fairly good job he made of it too, covering his entrire career. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I missed that one Ernie, may try listen again if it's still available! I would think there is a decent tv doc to be made about Sir Reg, warts and all.... _________________ MiS |
