WHY THE BIG FIVE
Chris Evans 10 Apr 07, 01:27 PM
You know the caveman used to...

... have to work as long as it took to put food in the mouth of first him and then his family, defend his village and find a woman in the begiining to do all this with.
As civilisation took hold, it appears somewhere along the line we, i.e. most of us, have been given weekends off, for which we are eternally gratefull... HOWEVER....
After such a blissful long weekend this morning and as I was squeezing the last droplets of holiday feeling from whatever I could, the following thought occured to me: Since technology is making everything easier and quicker and more efficient, why have we stopped at just having Saturday and Sundays off. Isn't it time we redefined the week? Can't we now, in general please note, announce that the working week is ready to come down another day.
In a society that needs to spend more time getting back to the more natural, important basic things in life, why don't we give ourselves more time to do it.
If you won the lottery, you would no doubt take a wee while off to smell the roses. Well in a way, as a race, compared to the poor cavemen we have won the bloody lottery, so why are we all still working Mondays.
Four highly productive days at work, three life enhancing days at life.

Why doesn't he ask for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays off too? An even better idea Idea Include Saturdays & Sundays in the request too. Just to be sure!

We talk about having Mondays off at work each week, but came to the conclusion long ago that we'd just end up hating Tuesdays instead. Smile

Sounds like the start of a slippery slope for CE to me....

I wouldnt take it too seriously. His blog is full of this type of whimsey. Anyway being a DJ is only a 4and a half day week anyway. He doesnt get back to London until Monday afternoon. Sarah Kennedy takes off for the country at 7.30 on a Friday morning as well.

I disagree-I think that's part of the deal for him to take over breakfast which I think he definetly will. He is certainly the front runner and one of LD's favourites.

Either Richard Allinson or Johnnie Walker can cover on the day Chris has off.

It's not a problem.

Maybe, I guess we'll just have to wait and see, or more to the point wait until Terry chucks his notice in. Laughing

The words Hell, freezes, when and over spring readily and hopefully to mind.

When Chris does take over the breakfast show he is more likely to want/negotiate Friday's off than Monday's.

Do you think? Knowing Chris, I expect he'll be too hungover from a weekend of excess to do a Monday show but would easily manage one on Friday (before going out partying again).

Depends on your definition of the weekend I guess.

Certainly the folk I work like to consider having Fridays off if they can as "part of their weekend" as opposed to Mondays.

Maybe Chris is different.

In any event we will find out soon.

I've heard Mr. Evans referred to as "Carrot Top". I take exception to that! Proper carrot tops are green and scrumptious, whereas Mr. E is just unpalatable.
