Given who the confirmatory poster was, I doubt it very much!

I sincerely hope JW is not leaving Radio 2-that really would be a nail its coffin.

I am beginning to really enjoy JW's Sunday show-the music is nearly always to my liking-we need to hear more from this great dj.

Isn't it amusing that the moderator of the radio 2 forum has considered the thread to be "off topic"! I'd love to know what they're afraid of.

The last time I had Kerrang! Radio on, some twonk kept repeating a joke about Chad Kroeger of Nickelback.

It was the same joke as the Celine Dion one: 'I said to him - why the long face?'

Oh how I didn't laugh.

Not sure if Big L has the money to hire anybody at the moment.

Just been listening to Randell Lee Rose on the Big L btw. Great DJ. Very economical with his links in an Alan Freeman style.

Does Johnnie (who lives in east Dorset) want to share a house with that lot in Frinton-on-Sea - even if it does bring back memories for Johnnie?

I'm sure the carrots are lovely over in those parts, though!

Did anyone see that show 'Get your act together' last night on channel 4 ? Harvey Goldsmith was doing a bit of a Sir John Harvey-Jones 'Troubleshooter' type of a job on this Big L medium wave station down there in Frinton. What a bloody shambles, they have ex 275-285 ers Mike Reid, Diddy Hamilton and the station manager (ex R2 producer apparently) called David Chesey (sp) all living together in one house seemingly on the lash most of the time. The staion itself is over the top of a branch of the Woolich building society, the A.M. transmitter pleases itself when it wants to work, the listen live facility on t'internet doesn't work at all, they're on Sky Digital and they're losing £50k per month !! They don't know who's listening, they can't sell advertising and Mike Ried's doing a 'Radio-1- type-Roadshow-mate, in his shorts and his dyed hair, dancing to Jimmy Freakin' Cricket who's singing a musical hall type song as a dozen or so bemused onlookers and various dogs wonder what the heck's going on.
In a post mortem show afterwards, radio pros like the Prog. Dir. from Heart FM, a management type bod from LBC and matey boy Nick (probably a made up name) Ferrari rips them to shreds and practically accuses the presenters and station manager of conning the station owners out of hundreds of thousands of pounds as Ed 'ello darlin' Stewart springs to the station's defence... Quite a bizarre set-up.

You certainly couldn't make that description up.... it's amazing they've got any listeners at all. I was surprised at Mike Reid going out on the lash, though - he always seemed to be fairly straight-laced, almost puritanical to me.

It was a Channel 4 hatchet job at its best or worst depending on your point of view. Louis Theroux or Big Brothers producers would be proud.

Has anybody actually listened to the station? I do sometimes listen to Randell Lee Rose and others. Sounds ok to me.

The last thing I want to hear is another Heart or Magic clone.

Ok their marketing is awful, but the station actualy sounds good. In this day & age though thats not enough to surivive in business. More's the pity.

Ferrari was an arrogant a**hole though. He hasnt even listened to the station.

I felt sorry for that guy doing the breakfast show.
OK, at first he was awful, but once he'd had some appropriate training I thought he did a good job and certainly showed some drive and enthusiasm- but everyone at the station treated him like dog-dirt.

Harvey got it dead right- the rest of them were taking the backers for mugs. I can't believe they kept pumping money into a station that poorly run... If it'd been my money I'd have wanted a lot of answers from management and so-called experienced presenters Shocked
