Former X-Files star Gillian Anderson will never appear on TV again, claiming it is destroying society.

The actress has stuck to movies since quitting the series in 2002 - recently appearing in Academy Award-winning film The Last King Of Scotland.

And although she is rumoured to be reuniting with David Duchovny for another movie version of the hit sci-fi show - she insists she would rather be unemployed than return to the small screen.

Anderson tells PageSix, "My God, I don't even watch television. I don't like television. I never have liked it. The whole concept of sitting down in front of a TV feels like one of the things that's destroying society, as far as I'm concerned."

But Films are ok?

She was in the BBC adaptation of bleak house in 2005 so the report is wrong to say she has stuck to movies since 2002.

I believe the phrase "The mouth is in motion, but the brain isn't in gear" applies here Laughing

This sort of line was being peddled when I was a small boy, 50 years ago. It wasn't true then and isn't now. Moderation of use is the key. Enjoy TV but don't let it take your life over.

I read an interview in last Sundays Telegraph where she was saying the same things. I think she's bitter about previously being locked into her contract to do X-Files and that she would never do a long running tv show again.

Fair enough, she was great in X-files, ever seen her on a chat show, the little minx has a cracking brit accent and other *ahem* assets that one could find appealing so speak on, young Anderson, please - share forth your cup of wisdom, your disciple is listening.... Embarassed

Said assets, er, certainly defied gravity in the X-Files episode "One Breath".... Shocked Laughing

However, my favourite GA X-Files moment was in "War of the Cochraphrages", with the "her name is Bambi?" line....
