Hi all,
Just been to take my theatre group to see Wicked! It's still a great show. I had forgotten just how good the seats are (even at the back of the stalls you get a fair view). Stalls are definitely better than circle.
The new Elphaba plays the role as English now, and is very good. Adam Garcia is still terrible (we thought he wasn't going to make it through the show last night his singing was so bad in act 1). Miriam Margoles is good but doesn't sing, so some of her part sound strange.
Definitely worth a visit though with some truly spectacular moments.

I shall be there 3 weeks today. I'm looking forward to it!
My seats are in the Stalls - Row J, I think. I take it it's a big theatre? |

Hi Ian, yes it's a BIG theatre - Row J should be fine.
Check out www.theatremonkey.co.uk for a seating plan and seating reviews! _________________ "I'm a firm believer in not having to play the hand you're dealt." |

Hi Ian,
You should have a great view in row J. The show is usually packed out, so it's best to plan your interval refreshments. The bar is probably the worst theatre bar in London - even when packed there are only two staff (and only one bar for the entire theatre!).
Interval drinks are served on a little table in one of the ticket foyers (there is a foyer corridor on each side of the theatre) and you will need your drinks order stub to collect your drinks. They are really anal about this.
If you like merchandise, there is tons of it (jewellery, t-shirts, mugs etc etc etc).
Enjoy the show!

Thanks for the tips. I will probably want merchandise but I'm not too bothered about drinks at the interval. I'll be dashing off to the Comedy Store afterwards so I'll get my refreshment there.
Looking at Theatremonkey I see I'm on an aisle, which is great. I'm really looking forward to it (and Avenue Q on Tuesday). |

It was excellent! A great show, with great songs and brilliant staging. The lead girls were very very good, and I enjoyed Nigel Planer's spot-on "shyster wizard." Susie Blake has replaced Margoles, and she was good too.
I'd agree about Adam Garcia - he can dance and looks the part but his singing and acting was quite poor. As a result, I didn't quite believe in the romance. I also thought the finale was quite low-key, but I suppose that's the fault of the original film rather than this production.
But overall, a great day out and I would be keen to see it again (hopefully without ignorant Americans around me). |

Glad you enjoyed it Ian. Just out of interest, how was the view from Row J? I'd quite like a return visit and any advice about best seating is always welcome.
I was on the aisle in Row S when I went and had a great view, no seat in front of me and looking right over everyone in front stalls! _________________ "I'm a firm believer in not having to play the hand you're dealt." |

Row J (seats 31 & 32) were fine for the first half - because there was no-one in front of us! Sadly for the second half an American couple dashed into the empty seats and the man was very ignorant He was tall, and not only did he barely slouch but he kept rolling his head and looking around him - at one point, even his phone went off! Grrr! So the view still wasn't bad, but would have been better if he'd just kept still.
(as an aside, for Avenue Q I was in Row L 21 &23 (I think) and the view was brilliant - totally unspoilt by people in front and still able to see the entire stage) |

Ooooo, I sympathise Ian.
I'm only 5'1" and really get *&^$%^ed off when people in front of me fidget about!! It's bad enough having to sit bolt upright to try to see over them without constantly leaning left and right to see around them.
Thanks for the info about seats. _________________ "I'm a firm believer in not having to play the hand you're dealt." |
