I listened to the Jeremy Vine show today "discussing" the situation of the elderly lady taking a Care Home to court over Human Rights issues.

Looking past this particular case, I am sick and tired of the constant media bashing of Care Homes and in the case of the Vine show, allowing such an unbalanced view to be aired!

The representative from Age Concern said "it's down to pure chance whether a resident goes into a Social Services home or Private Home?? That's absolute rubbish! all prospective clients have a choice of Home.

Jeremy Vine fuelling the flames by using phrases like "They can throw them out" and "Evict them" ??

The idiot from Norwich using phrases such as
"Care Home owners are greedy greedy people"
"they shouldn't be allowed to look after mice"
"old people are vulnerable shoved around from pillar to post and with a bit of luck they might die and we make as much money as possible"
"a resident was deprived of food and water"

Boy would I like to meet her!

It was suggested that a "proper home" would take on a resident and provide care for that resident no matter what. If the resident becomes a problem the Home should move the resident away from the other residents and the staff should cope with it..

HELLO??? do these idiots know how the real world works?

A "care home" is an unknown item...

A Residential Home will deal with the elderly, or elderly and infirm.
A Residential/EMI Home will deal with the elderly, infirm and mental health problems.
A Nursing Home is obvious.

A Residential Home cannot deal with, and will not be registered for a person with Dementia, (unless it changes it's registration) and generally, if it develops, the resident will have to be moved on to another home suitably staffed.

A Residential Home is a business. A business needs to attract customers, you cannot allow one resident with dementia symptoms to upset the other 30 residents, otherwise you lose residents and go bust. It's that simple.

Yes, but it's become JV's signature just lately hasn't it...

Ignore the meat and the facts of the story and just throw up scurrilous headline-type phrases to get the bigots gnashing their teeth enough to phone in for a rant.

This show is almost un-listenable for me now... it's just cheap, nasty junk.

Let's have a music programme at lunchtime instead of "Bullshine with Vine" Crying or Very sad
