Hello everyone,
Happy to see this alternative to the Radio 2 Message Boards being set up - thanks to those responsible.
I wasn't a frequent poster on the old boards but didn't like the format too much - this looks much better.
Hope the board becomes a big success.....

So a little about me may be in order:
Just turned 40 but can still climb hills with the best of them so I'm not ready for the knackers yard yet!
My sig ("You call that low?") refers to my passion for low-level aviation photography - to get some idea of what I do, check out the following links:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3221eWdUSOU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll7iNcMCQk8
The resolution isn't great as they were recorded on camera phones (not mine, BTW), but you get the idea. Try standing on a draughty hillside for a day, then get good sharp pictures of jets doing 400 knots at 100 feet agl with a digital SLR and a lens the size of a rocket launcher and you'll get the idea.
The car gets some hammer since preferred locations are in NW and SW Scotland, the Lakes and North Wales. Of course R2 is on in the car (though CDs get played when SW is on - I'm not that much of a 'captive market'!)
Musical tastes seem to have gravitated to the sort of stuff Bob Harris plays on his Saturday show but I have a bit of everything in my CD collection. Picking a dozen CDs at random from the shelves:
Michelle Branch - The Spirit Room
Alison Brown - Stolen Moments
Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club
Kathleen Edwards - Failer
Flowered Up - A Life With Brian
Piney Gir - Peekahokahoo
Karine Polwart - Faultlines
Maia Sharp - Fine Upstanding Citizen
Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe
Gina Villalobos - Rock 'N' Roll Pony
Visage - The Damned Don't Cry
And that's about it - regularly listen (more and more via 'Listen Again') to Wogan, Stuart Maconie and Bob Harris - plus I catch bits of Sarah Kennedy, Alex Lester, Ken Bruce and Wossy but I'm not that bothered if I don't.

Hi, Cherskiy,
WoW!! Had a look at the low level flying, remembered a story my Dad told me - he and my Mother were up in the hills when this happened to them, they were scared out of their skins hanging on to each other.
My Dad said, you could reach out and almost touch the plane!!
Looks a great thing to do!
Oh, nice taste in music also! |
