Tony Blair will "make an announcement" on his future as Labour leader on Thursday, Downing Street has confirmed.

Well, he's made it http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6639945.stm and, bearing in mind his successor is a foregone conclusion and is unlikely to make things any better, I for one can hardly contain my indifference.

Now, I wonder what cock-up or piece of bad news has been buried beneath all the hoo-ha?

Well spotted, Highlander... I just caught that being announced.

And did we really need 2 ruddy hours of "how good was Tone" today on JV???

He's a liar, a spin-merchant and a chronic mis-manager.
Good riddance, Blair- shame all the rest are just like you, though Evil or Very Mad

£400M extra on the id card costings (?) *and* the extra 0.25% hike in the bank base rate.... so more mortgage to pay despite the fact that my pay rise this year wasn't anywhere near 5.5%! Sad

Yes, I spotted both items and had a wry smile to myself....

He's not gone yet. There's another two months of goodbyes. Gone With the Wind seemed short in comparison with his farwell.

Well, politicos never do anything by halves nowadays, do they?

"Two Shags" Prescott's statement was a little lacklustre by comparison, however.... Smile

Granted that this is an important piece of news, was it really necessary for 20 of the 30 minutes of BBC1's 6pm News bulletin yesterday evening to be devoted to this one story? It isn't as if we didn't all know that it was coming and some of the relentless analysis could have been saved for a documentary at a later date.

And those of us who live in the North-East then got it all again ad nauseam in the local news, because of the announcement being made in TB's Sedgefield constituency.

Ian.

Did you really expect anything less, Ian? Snooze24 and the other bulletins seem to fixate onto two or three stories each hour to the detriment of everything else that's happening in the region/country/world.
