Very nice.
I'm no expert on punk-ish tunes but it does sound very derivative. Of what I can't quite put a name to... _________________ Ron |

That new one by Manic Street Preachers. 'Your Love Is Not Enough'? or something very similar.
'Our Velocity' by Maximo Park. This is one I've heard on 6 music. I've heard 'Backfired At The Disco' on there too and I agree, it is very good. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.

Billy Ocean - Red light spells danger. I downloaded this from iTunes ages ago but seeing the Top Gear boys do a version for children in need made me dig it out and play constantly.
See Wrighty played it back end of the week. Ooops, er...my name is Andy and I listened to Steve Wright........ _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

I repent, I repent....I anm unclean but now I see the light!
Hey! I had a quiet moment in the training room, my delegates were doing a task on the PC's and I'd played my CD over a zillion times, thought I'd intro them to the wonders of R2....even though 'Love me' Stevie was on.
Yeah, not working is it.... _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

He'll be appearing on "The Big Quiz" opposite SantaFeMan before you can say "Factoid"!
(Actually, one of my colleagues at work has actually appeared on the quiz.... she keeps it extremely quiet!) _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Andy-Why not introduce your students/delegates to the wonder of BFBS Radio 2 weekdays between 9-11am-much better than the output of BBC Radio 2. |

Intervention by Arcade Fire! That church organ throughout really gets to me in a good way.
It reminded me of Parallels off Yes's 'Going For The One', though Jon Anderson would never use lines like 'working for the church while your family dies'. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

Bit late with this one but REM's version of John Lennon's No 9 Dream is certainly growing on me.
What do others think? |

Has anyone heard the new single from Shirley Bassey-can't remember the title but Richard Allinson played it recently and I heard it again on the radio again earlier today.
I think it's great-reminds me of a song from a James Bond film. |

WOW - sorry for the late reply here, Mark...took me a heck of a long time to recover from listening to SW.
Mark, I do tend to play the 'listen again' for the BFBS shows, quite funny to see people's reactions to the weather broadcasts...."Did he say, Basra??!!!" _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Good work Andy-important to teach them good listening habits whilst they are young.
Hopefully you can advise "Richard's shows are some of the best and if you want to get a good music education probably not a better daily show to tune into etc". |

It's the soundtrack to my day
Still taking time to get used to the jingles though. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Andy-I really like the new jingle set-I'm sure they will grow on youin time or before they are refreshed again.
I do like the way Richard "talks back to the one from the lady with the sexy voice"-it always makes me smile-it reminds me a bit of that famous Dick Emery moment /saying "You are naughty but I do like you". |

TTS-Like you I did not take to this REM version when I first heard it but the more I hear it the more it is growing on me.
Indeed it makes you think that the original by John Lennon is a very hard record to sing/recreate. |

I don't think Radio 2 is playing ANY of my current favourite new tunes.
Kind of situation normal, really......
Been listening to a CD recently called Horizon by a young singer I discovered on Myspace called Matthew Jordan and one of my favourite songs of the moment is one of those tracks, "Eventually".
