I listen to about 2 seconds of Chris Evans show every weekday, the sound of his opening jingle makes me race for the off button. I just hate that guys voice - it really does grate.

No, you're not the only one, Helen.

To be fair to Ernie, who does like CE, I have tried to listen to the last twenty minutes of the shows this week on the way home from overtime. I managed to listen to about five minutes most nights before the cringe factor overtook me, although one night (Wednesday, I think) I got through ten. Must be improving, or my tolerance limit is lowering! Very Happy

The trailers are enough to disuade me from ever listening to 'Driveltime' save for when the whinger is on holiday, in which case the 'L' from the middle can be dropped and the earplugs can be dispensed with. Cherskiy, was it for a bet, or some kind of Penance / Jankers? If the latter, boy, whatever you did it must have been bad!

Heh, heh.... Laughing No, I read Ernie's comments at the beginning of the week and decided to give CE another couple of chances. I can't see myself ever really liking the bloke's patter, but it was worth it, even just to reinforce my views. Next week I'll be back to the CDs....

Anyway I shouldnt respond positively to posts in the gripes section. That's not the spirit Laughing

No, I wasn't forced - but thought I would try to listen anyway, so I wasn't simply casting criticism without any personal experience to back my comments up.

My particular mission - to convert everyone to Bob's Saturday show Very Happy - is a little more subliminal. If I write enough reviews, someone is bound to take notice! Laughing

You are not alone Smile

I was dubious about CE taking it over, but it's a good show, which has got better.

He has great enthusiasm which I know can be too much for some. Smile

I like it too- Mon-Thur. Not a huge fan of the Friday show- it's a little too roadshow-ish on a Friday, although I do listen to it, mainly cos I enjoy the traffic reports in a Schadenfreude way, knowing that I've been home for hours. Smile

I like Drivetime, but only when CE's on holiday; you would think a man paid as much as CE would have more holiday days than Wogan, well we can hope can't we Santa? Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hi to H and hi to SantaFefan,

How are you doing? Well it's a comfort to know that some things don't change Very Happy .

Work life was getting a bit hectic for me, hence my lack of posts. Not much has changed there but, well, I missed you guys!!

Back to CE though, I don't get to listen as much as I used to. BUT, I still like the show. What I can't stand to listen to though is the SW show. So, I think, he should go and CE should take his place in the afternoon slot. How does that sound?

I never listen to R2 in the afternoons so if CE did that slot it would be ideal. I could then return to listening to drivetime!

That must have been taken quite a while ago. He's bloated a bit since then.

I do the same!

I went into a shop in town on Thursday and they had him on - I had to leave!

Helen - I was up beside the Central Library - or what was left of it! I spent a lot of time in there when I was at school, strange to see it being pulled down!

Hi RB

I didn't know it was being pulled down, I can remember when it opened and that isn't all that long ago. I'm trying to think where the old one was but I can't.

My last visit while, I was back home on a visit, was to look up on micro fiche (sp?) a recipe from the Chronicle that I'd lost part of. I only remembered the month and year that it was published but I got there!
