Looks like David Beckham will be knighted as Sir David and Victoria will be Lady.
Do you think this is right? |

Mark you are doing it again. The word KNIGHTED is past tense and implies that it has already happened. He has not been knighted. There is a suggestion that he should, that is all.
Perhaps a thread title like Should Beckham Be Knighted? would be more appropriate? |

The whole honours system has been totally devalued during the Blair years anyway- SIR Elton John, MBE's for a cricket team winning two matches. But a knighthood for "golden balls"Beckham?? What a joke.
How about Sir Robbie Wiliams,Dame Lily Allen, Lady Madonna. _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

I can understand Elton getting one after all he has achieved amazing success during his career ans also he does a lot of good work for Aids charities.
But Beckham? what he heck has he ever done, England have won stuff all for years. |

For services to football and to the country? Yeah OK. It wouldn't be a first. |

I quite like David Beckham but feel it's a bit early for a K.

ern, it'll be for services to football and the country. Surely he's more worthy than some F.O. suit who planned the destruction of a people's lives in a foreign country? |

Perhaps its for services to tabloid journalism. I suppose he is as worthy as some who get gongs but most aren't knighted. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
