No more Mark Goodier on Radio 2.

http://media.guardian.co.uk/radio/story/0,,2028503,00.html

Mark Goodier is to join London's Smooth Radio with his first daily radio show for a decade.

Goodier, who presented the official Top 40 chart for a decade until 2002, will host the morning show on Smooth Radio, the GMG Radio station that relaunches on March 26. His show will run from 10am to 1pm on weekdays.

More work for Allinson then?

(At least, I hope that's the option - rather than Pete Mitchell in daylight Shocked )

"More work for Allinson then? "

Even I will say he is better than Goodier, but there must be better availble somewhere, lets have the 'A' list like Jw, MR etc used to fill on prime shows.

I doubt it. Smooth is directly competing against Radio 2.

Do you reckon Allinson was in the running for a slot on Smooth?

I see Radio 2 using Mitchell and Lester more in daytime now.

Ernie if Smooth was a National station maybe but he seems to be happy at BFBS and now gets Sundays off.
I had thought that his Sunday departure was for a possible Radio 2 sunday show but the only real spot would be to replace Parky.
He does a paper review and i'm sure Richard can include a few older tunes.
Then again there is no news Rolling Eyes on Parky so probably pure speculation on my part

Strange all the same. BFBS is not exactly drawing in big ratings.

I can't see how he will be able to cover anymore shows on R2? He might not be able to depends how his contract runs? I'm very surprised Lesley never offered him a show? Nice lineup with some big names to kick off the launch.

As you keep saying Mark, all the DJs are going to local radio nowadays.

If there's no slot for him on Radio 2 (and let's be honest, there isn't) then he has to find employment somewhere.

I'll miss him Crying or Very sad

Can we pursuade on of these 1970s-style stations to offer Evans a contract?

Hi Ian,

I'm afraid to inform you that we will not hear him on Radio 2 as a presenter, as he informed me in a kind email. At least we have spread the word for people to tune into him. The London station will be available on Freeview across the UK and on DAB in certain areas outside London (Severn Estuary,Yorkshire & for six months the North-East).

Anyway back on topic, Kevin Greening was another rumoured to be moving to Radio 2 so that doesnt seem to be happening.

I wonder if Smooth are going to let their presenters talk much or just have them say next to nothing like on Magic?

Maybe, maybe not? Depends how his contract is at the BBC? Is he allowed to work for other networks alongside BFBS?

Well Graham Dene isn't going to be free to start until 2008 on Smooth so they would wait for the right guy. I cant imagine Allinson is happy at being mainly on Radio Oxford & BFBS.

It's lester, Mitchell and Radcliffe who cover for most shows now. I think we will see Dermot coming into weekdays in the future? Johnnie still covering breakfast. It would be nice to have a woman presenter covering for Ken or Steve, maybe Zoe Ball?

Mark just had a few offers to host shows which he couldn't really turn down.

Kermit can stay right where he is, thank you - 2 hours on a Saturday is bad enough without inflicting him on the rest of the schedule. Shocked

Maconie and Matthew Wright do more covers than Radcliffe. I agree that Zoe Ball and Kate Thornton may do more in the future, but AFAIK Dermot has never done a daily run. Lazy sod.

I don't think that matters, actually. With the kind of ridiculous programming decisions being taken in respect of Radio 2 it's probably good that presenters we like are increasingly loving to stations we're inclined to retune to ourselves.
