Some news stories sound interesting and then they say something and you think, yeah right
"An autistic boy who is blind and can barely speak has earned the nickname the 'human iPod' because of his piano playing abilities.
Derek Paravicini began playing the piano when he was two and started performing at the age of four, demonstrating his extraordinary ability to hear, remember and play all the music he encounters.
His mentor is Adam Ockleford, who said: "Derek and I first met when he was little - he was about four and a half. He just broke away from his parents and pushed a little girl off the piano and played "Don't Cry For Me Argentina."

I do remember a similar case a few years back(it may even have been on "thats life" ) where another blind autistic kid could play a song back to the interviewer after hearing it song accapella once.
They are known for their recall ability so maybe not as "oh yeah" as the normal run of the mill "human interest" stories.
But I must admit I love the phrasing of the last sentence _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |
