Or was the Wogan Outside Broadcast this morning distinctly disappointing?

All the links I heard consisted of three people in desperate search of a conversation!

Terrible waste of money.

I doubt it cost that much to put on as the BBC crew were already in place for Springwatch. It was all for a good cause though, enjoyed the Janet & John birdwatching tale. Laughing

I heard most of the show and enjoyed it. Sounded like good fun and Deadly's crazy bird impressions are very funny. Bill Oddie came over as a bit of an .... oddie though.

Well, he does suffer from manic depression! He has more bad days than good, sadly.

Indeed Bill has had a rough time in the last few years, I wish people would him a bit more slack sometimes, depression is a devastating illness. Crying or Very sad

On a lighter note I swear Deadly gets madder by the day Laughing

For television, not radio. You wouldn't tie up a whole TV scanner/OB to mix three channels of voice and a couple of CD players (although I think the music was remote-triggered back at BH because all the meta data was being displayed on the website).

That said, i thought it was a waste of effort. Even the bird noise SoundFX.

I think part of the problem is that Wogan is, probably by his own admission, incredibly lazy. I don't think he likes OBs much, and I've always thought the pre-Eurovision shows are a wasted opportunity to explore a city etc rather than just sit in a studio in Belarus, or wherever, dispensing exactly the same fare as you do back in London!

Help! I've been away for a couple of weeks. Is the J&J story referred to on Wednesday or Thursday programme? I assume it will be on around 8.20 am

Iknew......

You have missed very little on these boards why you have been away.

The highlight for me these past few weeks on Radio 2 was that Ken Bruce burped live on air yesterday-they are making space for him in the Tower of London as I speak.

Along with Bill Oddie for saying 'sh!t' live on air and Richard Allinson for saying he didn't give a toss. Laughing

TTS-Richard Allinson did not say I don't give a toss on Radio 2-he said this on BFBS Radio 2 in relation to the Appentice programme-correct me if I am wrong if he did say this on Radio 2 though please-I missed this if he did.

BFBS have a more laid back approach to standards- a little more "industrial language" is used in their broadcasts as opposed to the "1950's" style used on Radio 2.

I think the music on most of these outside shows is played in from London. There often seem to be references made to Charles Nove working things back in the studio. I thought their bird noise sounded quite believeable. Apart from Deadly's exotic species of warbler of course!

You'll always have a stand-by presenter back in the studio at BH on live OB jobs like this just in case the circuit goes down.

Just out of curiosity, if Ken Bruce had burped on BFBS, would it have been such a big deal for you? I listened back to Ken's 'heinous crime' and if he hadn't said what he did, I'd have thought he'd just cleared his throat. Hardly earth trembling stuff!
Interesting how you trumpet BFBS's 'more laid back approach' to broadcasting, yet as soon as something 'industrial' happens on Radio 2 you all but fire off an angry letter to The Times!

Thanks for help. As for missing very little... World Service only broadcasting for 2 hours a day, Radio Jordan in its place is the pits!
Can't wait for my ISBN to be installed.
