Forgot to mention to you guys that the Kombat Breakers are good friends of ours here, one of the lads is the son of my missus ' best friend, we've seen them perform a few times in the Midlands and they performed at our Silver Wedding party last year (before they got famous). So we're for them tonight! My missus is in the audience!
They are good but the singers offer some stiff competition, and though I haven't seen the opera singer yet personally I think the girl who did Mary Poppins last night will win.

From what I've seen (and I haven't seen Kombat Breakers) they're nearly all rubbish! What was with the woman miming to Madonna? All those cute (toe-curling) kids? The dancing groups doing 20-year-old routines that any theatre group could do?
The show has been fun, but I'm sure there must be better stuff out there. I've not seen tonight's show but I assume the opera singer won. |

But Ian, you haven't mentioned ANY of the 6 finalists!! So you haven't seen the best acts.
Paul Potts won. Yeah he's good, he's had lessons from Pavarotti himself, but he's just another Alfie Boe. And I'm sure the little 6 year old was made to listen to Eva Cassidy over and over again, so just mimicing. I liked Bessie Cursons, yeah a new Julie Andrews maybe, but she has a talent that we will likely see again.
As for the Kombat Breakers, yes they will get gigs, my missus rang to say that they have already got a gig at the Clothes Show in December.

Fair enough - I didn't see the Final. But I did see it on Thursday: the opera singer was such a foregone conclusion to win, and the rest didn't impress me. Of the others I saw, the vent was a one-act guy (but he may find a writer now), the 11-year-old comedian was clearly copying an old video he's seen, the Mary Poppins can be found all over the country, and the singers were OK but nowt special. |

Didn't hear about all this during the show.......
Paul Potts' last performing role was at Bath Opera's production of Aida in
2003. Paul Potts played Radames.
A student of Ian Comboy, Paul has appeared on national and local television and radio. He has spent two summers touring Northern Italy training with one of the major opera schools, and has taken part in masterclasses with Vilma Vernocchi, Katia Ricciarelli and Luciano Pavarotti. He has also performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. With Bath Opera he also sung the roles of Don Basilio (Marriage of Figaro), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and the title role in Verdi's Don Carlos.
Future plans include the role of Chevalier des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) for Southgate Opera, London, and another concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the summer.

I dont think there was any deliberate deception though. On other shows his history was discussed. Didnt he run out of money though & have to take the CW job? I thought I heard him say he was £30k in debt.
Anyway, if your parents name you after a Cambodian dictator, cum mass murderer, you need a few breaks.
