Actually, there's not enough 60s stuff on Radio 2 - during daytime. The bias is towards 70s stuff. There's only Steve Wright who plays a large amount of 60s records.

Sound of the 60's, Marl Lamarr's 60's show, Johnnie Walker, POTP. Radio 2 is still giving the late 60's undue prominence because most of their core listenership were growing up around that time.

Take away the 60s label and it's just music.... Music is good:)

If you arrived on the planet by taxi and had no knowledge of musical history, then it would just be a big musical jukebox.

...and they're all daytime shows now, are they?

Why can't Radio 2 devote more airtime to music of the 70's and 80's.

I'm sick to death of the 60's music obsession on Radio 2.

Freshen things up Lesley and co.

"Brian will have to carry on for another 826 weeks or 68.75 years to completely cover the 60's! "

so quite a while yet to leave the 60's behind Laughing Laughing

Personally speaking, I'd be elated at the thought.
Without the shadow of a doubting Thomas, the 60's was the best decade for music and fun by a looooooooooong chalk.

In fact, if there was a specialised 60's FM station, I'd listen to it a lot, apart from when Brian, Wrighty, Walker, Parky, Lamarr, Radcliffe, Maconie or Jones is on.

So there. Laughing

I prefer 70's and 80's music myself but I don't mind some 60's. However I would not particualrly want to hear more 60's music during the daytime, I like the music they play now.
Don't understand the obession some people have with 60's music, I mean it's good but so is 70's and 80's music.

TTS-Spot on.

Completely agree there was some excellent music that came out of the 70's and 80's.

Radio 2 should give these 2 decades more airtime by way of specialist shows.

even I agree, Very Happy although I think the 60s is the better decade, there's some great stuff from the 70s and 80s. More so the 80s maybe.

Apart from a handful of tracks over the last few years, I think I could do without today's music, or should I say samples and re-workings. Rolling Eyes
