Singer & jazz musician George Melly has died aged 80 it has just been announced.

Yes, shame. Great voice "Hello Dolly" indeed.

Does anyone of a certain age remember his singing "Dickens home improvement hypermarket"

As a kid, this was my first sight of the man.

I remember George Melly doing a Radio 2 series about 'The Mob' (Mafia) and the music associated with them. Perhaps a repeat might be in order sometime soon?
