The best singer should have won. Thankfully, the best singer (by a million miles and three) did win!

I know in my heart Leona should have won, but there was something very likeable about Ray, Leona as a person seemed somewhat one dimensional. |

I thought Ray did asctually turn out to be the "one trick pony" that had been mentioned on the show - he only seems to be confortable in the Swing genre. His vocal rendition of the final song (the single) paled into igsignificance compared to Leona's killer performance.
I do think she has an amazing voice and she's definitely in it for the long haul.

You missed out the "Who really gives a ****" option!
Leona and Ray will both be forgotten in 12 months time. Just ask Shayne Thingy and Steve Watisname... |

Thank god it's finished that's all I've got to say, mind you it won't improve Saturday night TV, it's always rubbish. |

I don't think Leona will be forgotten in 12 months. She's just too good - and eminently more bankable than anybody else who has come through these shows in recent years - especially in the light of the fact that there's already a US deal on the table from Whitney Houston's management company right now.

The song did seem totally more suited to Leona though, than Ray. Although the fact it seemed more suited to a female voice didn't help either... |

The general concensus, Chez Sailyour, was that the choice of song could well have been intentional............................... ???

Well it had to be really. It would not have been fair to have the final song being a swingy kinda thing, but it was nothing at all like a song that would be in Rays comfort zone. If it weren't for that song, the results might have gone differently. |

There's no way it was rigged though. If it were, Simon would not have trumped on and on about how this girl was by far the best thing... that would have made it soo obvious. |

I don't/didn't watch it either - but I did catch the bit when all the rejects and unusual people from earlier auditions were shown wailing like banshees and generally poked fun at. _________________ Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. |

S'alright, John, I know what it is (unfortunately), but I steer clear of the likes of "I'm a Big Celebrity Fat Dancer Apprentice Undressed, Get Me Out of Here".... I have an extremely low boredom/tolerance threshold when it comes to pap and schedule fillers.

For once the best singer won, but whether she has any X-Factor, whatever that is, is another matter.
I didn't watch much of the series, preferring the marginally less hysterical SCD, but at the earlier "Boot Camp" stage picked Leona as the one who stood out a mile vocally. Ray may come to make his mark in the future - he seemed immature physically and vocally, even allowing for the age range he was in, and should have been made to wait for a couple of years. _________________ Ron |

Ray gave the more polished performance on the night.
Leona - good voice at best, only suited to ballards, way too timid to make the big time, absolutely no stage presence, body language suggests she has constantly wet herself.
Winning song obviously choosen with her in mind.
Would of been more interesting if Leona had sung first. |

barne36,
Welcome to the R2 forum.
Yesterday I saw CDs in Borders, Leona, with X-factor winner stickers on them. People will buy it. Somehow I don't think Ray would be such an attraction on the CD stand, so yeah I also think the song was chosen to let Leona win... and allow certain people to put big bets on her winning
