The Scout movement is about to mark its centenary by holding an international jamboree, the first to be held in the UK since the 50th anniversary one was held at Sutton Coldfield in August 1957.
It's a date that's permanently burned in my brain, even though I didn't actually get to the event. I was in cubs at the time and coaches were booked to take pack members plus scouts there. I duly put my name down but at the last minute had to pull out because of a change to family holiday plans.
Did any of you attend? What memories of the event do you have?
