It depends upon my mood at the time, but those usually guarenteed are:
The Whole of the Moon - The waterboys
Northern Lights - Renaissence
Very day hurts - Sad Cafe
Don't give up - Peter Gabriel ( with kate Bush)
Duel - Propaganda
Invocation - Medwyn Goodall
Spring Rain - Hennie Bekker _________________ Geddon

Many--for now, try:
Easybeats: Friday on My Mind
Almost any Queen
The current Take That one (yes, really!)
Beatles: In My Life and Eleanor Rigby
If we can include light classical lollipops too:
The Overture to Gilbert and Sullivan's Yeomen of the Guard
The Farandole from Bizet's L'Arlesienne
The Minuet from John Ireland's Downland Suite (think Geoff Hamilton Gardening programmes)
So many more still but how about some of yours?
Sorry, Toggy Tea Slurper, but anything by Meatloaf is more likely to make me turn off the power at the mains!
Ian. |

Sixty Eight Guns by the Alarm and Swords Of A Thousand Men are a couple of good rabble rousers.
Terry used to play Question by the Moodies a lot when Pauly was his producer, he used to pick some great records. |

May be a tad off topic here, but what on earth is Beethoven holding?
Is it a stirrup pump or a crossbow? |

A few more for you....
Yellow Pearl by Phill Lynott.
The entire War of the Worlds album.
And since we're branching out into the classics, and why not...
Barbers Adagio for strings
Bizet - the pearl fishers.

Its mainly in the car that I turn the volume up and its usually pretty naff stuff like Don Henley or Brian Adams. I must admit that Aaron Copeland's Hoe-Down always has me turning the volume up as well. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hmm, immediately after Mark's let's-be-on-topic message you go off-topic....
Anyway, it'll be a lyre. Beethoven would never have played or composed for the 'lyre', it's just artistic/musical symbolism.

Yeah but I don't turn up the volume on Bob Marley, it's already set high!
I enjoyed the short Marley prog on R2 last night. I have 5 Marley/Wailers albums, and my missus saw him at a sold-out Madison Square Gardens supporting the Commodores the year before we got married, and the year before he died, so must have been 1980. She was near the front. When the Commodores were on she chanced to look over her shoulder and realised that the place was now less than half full. What did Marley ever hold, a guitar, a joint, a microphone, a baby.

To me, turning up the volume occurs when any from my wide range of musical favourites are playing from....
Anything from Genesis, ELP, Asia, Yes, and Pink Floyd.
Mixes by Armand Van Buuren, Judge Jules, and Tiesto (sorry, they're probably alien to some of you!).
In classical, my penchant is for Choral, so works by Palestrina, Byrd, Tallis, Monteverdi, and Victoria get my vote!
An eclectic mix; I have lists of my faves, but I'd take up several pages to list them all!

Thank you for that link Toggy! I also found this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCv_qSCV5r8&feature=related
Of them performing Frozen Faces on The Tube. I had this on VHS many years ago but probably got thrown out during a house move or something.
Have a look at the link people, this is what Propaganda were about - and I love the synchronised windmill dance at the end!! |

I don't have time to list them all but I'll just give you four examples that I've listened to recently:
1/ With a little help - Joe Cocker (the best cover version in the whole world ever by the way )
2/ Feel like making love - Paul Rogers
3/ Ready and Willing album - Whitesnake (can I have than or is it cheating to put a whole album on)
And just for something a little bit different
4/ Carmina Burana - Carl orff
Happy listening
Oh, just thought of another. Excellent for hot sunny days like today
5/ Don't go - Hothouse Flowers _________________ Mig |
