To celebrate 40 years of Radio 2, good old BBC7 will be running 2 special shows full of classic Radio 2 comedy.

Ken Dodd's presenting 6 shows from the first 12 months, and Ken Bruce is presenting 6 from the next 39.

5 of Ken's selection have already been picked, but you can vote for the 6th here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/comedy/progpages/twoscomedy.shtml

Please vote for HeeBeeGeeBees! I've got their album but have never heard the original show.

What do you think the other selections will be? I'm guessing News Huddlines (obviously), Grumbleweeds, Lee Mack...

Done it already. Although I never allow my Political views to be known, in this instance I can say I voted for the HeeBeeGeebes.
Would have much preferred The Rutles tho'

Cheers.

Not sure the Rutles were on Radio 2, were they? I wish they'd release Rutland Weekend Television on DVD. I must have watched The Rutles movie about a million times.

Eh, how could they NOT include The News Huddlines in the shortlist???? It ran for 26 out of R2's 40 year history......

Some mistake surely, who do we write to ?

John,

I couldn't believe it was missing when I heard the trailer the other day either.

It makes you wonder if they were listening to the same station as we were.......... Rolling Eyes

They're NOT missing out the News Huddlines - it's in the trailer!

5 of the 6 selections have already been chosen, and there's a vote for that one final slot. The News Huddlines will be on, don't worry.

However, it's apparently impossible for BBC7 to broadcast a full run of the show because of how many writers were involved. Some can't be found, and some won't give permission. So savour this rare repeat.

Ian,

If you look at

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/comedy/progpages/twoscomedy.shtml

the poll/list seems decided and it's

The Flight of The Conchords
The Day The Music Died
It's Been A Bad Week
Listen to Les
The Hee Bee Gee Bees Story
The Eric Morecambe & Ernie Wise Show

So the problems you state might be responsible for News Huddlines not getting shortlisted Mad

This from the BBC7 newsletter 2 weeks ago (available online or via e-mail):

Quote:
And in part 2 - Ken Bruce will be lining up six of the best from the last four decades. We've already selected five for you, but we need your help to choose the sixth!

That information is repeated in the trailer currently being broadcast (which also names News Huddlines and Punchline) and mentioned several times by Ken Bruce himself.

Then the page linked to above says:

Quote:
In Part 2 the 'Mid-Morning Man' trawls the remaining 39 years for comedic gems - with a little help from you...

We've got most of the programmes sorted out already. But we need you to help us out with the last one.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/comedy/progpages/twoscomedy.shtml

It's all very clear. Why would they want you to vote for all 6 shows? That doesn't make sense.
