|
|
The solicitors who act for Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs want him to be released from prison on compassionate grounds, as he's 77, in poor health and wants to spend his last years with his family.
Of course he shouldn't have been involved in the robbery and, having been imprisoned, shouldn't have made his escape. That said, is there much to be gained in keeping him banged up at his age and in his state of health? Would it set a difficult precedent if he were now to be regarded as having paid his debt to society? I can't decide--what do others think?

Well the way I look at it the fella who died in the robbery was denied spending any more time with his family.
Yeah I know Biggs didn't kill the man but he probably knows who did, and he didn't co-operate, withheld information etc etc. Life should mean life, |

But am I right in thinking other villains, criminals and murderers have been released early over the years? maybe some associated with terrorism too.
He's seventy seven and in bad health, he's not going to do any more harm.
Let him out I say.. or at least let him have time at home. |
