Motorists have chosen Spaghetti Junction as the UK's best-known sight seen from a motorway.
Birmingham's complex interchange where two motorways meet topped a list compiled by the RAC from a survey of 1,000 UK motorists.
Also named:
Spaghetti Junction M6 - junction 6 near Birmingham
River Severn Bridge M48 - between Bristol and Wales
RAC Bescot building M6 - between junctions 8 and 9 near Walsall, West Midlands
Wicker Man M5 - near Bridgwater, Somerset
Stirling Castle M9 - near junction 10, Stirling, Scotland
QEII Bridge M25 - near junction 2, joins Thurrock and Dartford
Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station M1 - between junctions 24 and 25 near Nottingham
Fort Dunlop M6 - near junction 5, Birmingham
The Medway Viaduct M2 - between junctions 2 and 3 near Rochester, Kent
Stott Hall Farm M62 - between junctions 22 and 23, West Yorkshire

Best known, rather than most picturesque or well liked.
Surprised the Angel of the North is not on this list - from memory it's clearly visible from at least the northbound A1M before it goes down to just A1 at Birtley.
One of my favourite views is the point southbound on the M5 round about Wychbold when the Malvern Hills hove into sight. On a clear day, naturally.
And one of the funniest (for anyone who doesn't live there) must be the point, also on the southbound M5 round about Avonmouth, where it passes what looks like the biggest flytip of industrial hardware and shipping in the world. _________________ Ron |

May I make a plea for Drax Power station which can be seen from before J37on M62 until I get off at J36 _________________ Geddon

MARK, WHY DO YOU QUOTE/SPOUT RUBBISH?
Spaghetti junction is NOT the interchange of two motorways.
Spaghetti Junction is the junction of the M6 with the A38. Tell me what other motorway you are thinking about, and don't say the M38 and definitely don't say the M5 which meets at Jn 8. |

At the risk of being a pedant, it is, John - the A38(M) runs south from Junction 6 towards Aston.
I'll remove my anorak now. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Indeed, it is assigned as that on the blue signs, but that really means it's a section of the A38 which adopts motorway rules, so no pedestrians, no bicycles, no waiting etc
That part, known locally as the Aston Expressway is a favourite of mine. I used it every weekday for over 20 years (if it wasn't blocked!) I love when they change the tidal signs, for folks who have never used it, it is a seven lane 'motorway' without a central reservation which allows lanes to be opened in either direction depending on traffic weight - with one of the central lanes being no entry for either, A X high above denotes no entry in your direction. Can be scary when you forget what time of day it is and you don't know they have changed them. There have been head-on accidents but not many.
Is the Aston Expressway unique in the UK in this respect Cherskiy?
