It would be nice to know that Brian Matthew was returning to SOTS, but no announcement one way or the other yet.

Only caught parts of the shows by Sandie Shaw and Joe Brown. For me (>50) too much over-familiar music was played but for younger folk interested in the 1960's these shows were adequate I thought, and I will listen in to Joe again next Saturday.

I thought Joe was terrible Embarassed I think he's a lovely bloke though and gifted in other ways (not radio presenting though!).

I hope Brian comes back soon but I don't know if he ever will. Sad

Better than a demented parrot at 5.05 however. Confused

I completely disagree, I thought old Joe was terrific, he ( and Sandie ) really enjoyed playing the music and brought some fun into it with their stories and experiences.
Maybe it's a generation thing? I think people of my age are more fun and better at the job than some of today's presenters Very Happy

I thought sandie was good Smile just could not take to Joe at all.

I don't think it's a genration thing, I like older presenters generally.

Michael is certainly a most capable and charismatic presenter, for sure.

I thought Joe Brown was quite OK and look forward to hearing him again next week but the choice of music was a bit below par--too much of a muchness early in the show and too much familiar music later on. Also, why so few requests? I can't believe that they've dried up.

It's now nearly 4 months since Brian Matthew's most recent show and, given the complete lack of any concrete information about a possible return, I am begining seriously to wonder if he's decided to call time.

Ian.

I thought Joe was okay, much better than Sandie Shaw.

Worrying that we are hearing nothing about Brian Matthew though.

Not always Mark. What about Paul Walters?

I suspect there is not a lot that can be said. If, and I dont know, but if, he is suffering from cancer, then the prospects in reality are not great. But you cant say something like that on air, for obvious reasons.

I suppose so, but I think I recall hearing that he was doing well, then nothing else. With Paul's death being so recent there bound to be some comparison. I wish him well though.

I don't know why R2 seems very flat at the moment, to me anyway. I hope it picks up in the New Year.

I hope I am wrong but right up to the end Terry was always positive about how Pauly was getting on. For obvious reasons I suppose and I'm sure everybody understands why he did so, althought it made his passing a greater shock.

As regards being flat I dont think I would agree really. I listen early in the mornings and in the evenings plus Sundays mainly. I think Terry's music changes have revitalised his show. Bruce seems the same as usual. Dont listen much to Vine or Wright so i cant comment on them. The evening shows are as good as usual, especially the Thursday night line up.

Maybe it's just me then and all this seasonal hassle! Wink I do miss not listening to a drivetime show, but we'll not go down that road eh!

Good show from Joe Brown today but what an insensitive edit of the Kenny Lynch track!

Sould be interesting to hear Suzi Quatro next week.

That edit was just crazy, I've done better myself on a mini disc!

Sounded like they totally misjudged the timing. With all their equipment it was a disgrace.

Good ol' Joe, another blaster of a show, as good as Johnnie does it!
I noticed Joe mentioned that Brian was getting better this morning too.
