|
|
A judge has branded The Jeremy Kyle Show "a form of human bear-baiting" at a court case in Manchester.
District Judge Alan Berg said the ITV1 daytime programme was "trash" and existed to "titillate bored members of the public with nothing better to do".
The judge made the comments while sentencing one of the show's guests, who head-butted his love rival during filming earlier this year, for assault.
He added that the show's makers were partly to blame for the attack.

This is suppose to be entertainment I have watched the show a fe w times and he Jeremy does wind people up. People suppose to go onto these shows and tell their side of the story. Not a broadcaster who doesn't know them from Adam tell people how to run their lives, but why do people put them through these stage set shows? Crazy nutters.

Blimey, I'll have to watch this! sounds like fun.
Mind you, I'm probably the only one on here who actually liked Kilroy's show.... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

On Sky around lunchtime today the clips actually SHOWED the headbut Later 15min re-runs removed the offending 3secs of the headbut scene.
I confess to having watched bits of the show several times on my days off and there was a time when there were some sincere episodes but now it's just a chance for minging chavs to give attitude on TV, moment of glory, and it's time to axe this sort of show I think.

I agree John. This 'crepe' is a sort of British version of Jerry Springer, with bodyguards standing by waiting of the aggro to begin. Definitely due to be thrown in the TV dustbin along with 'Big Brother.' |

According to the news report:
"Ufi, which runs the government's adult learning service, Learndirect, said the deal was "no longer appropriate".
The show was branded "a form of human bear-baiting" earlier this week by a judge sentencing one of the show's guests for head-butting another."
That the Jeremy Kyle (whoever he is!) show has descended into "bear baiting" is a real surprise to me - honest. No really. These programmes are, after all, designed only to encourage intelligent and mature debate of topical matters. In no way would such a programme encourage anything likely to attract a mass of media attention. Never. Not ever.
I wonder if the real story is that LearnDirect is having its promotional budget squeezed simply because the lazy idiots who watch junk TV like the Kyle show have not the slightest inclination to get off their lazy butts and learn something new.
It's often the bottom line that's the deal-clincher.
And, by the way, who the hell is this Jeremy Kyle bloke? |

At work I coined a name for the Jeremy Kyle/Trisha hour.
"The Nuts and Sluts Hour"
Always seems appropriate, IMHO. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Mark - my question was tinged with a hint of sarcasm, actually. And "knowing about radio & TV" might be knowing the difference between a PPU and a VU or a 4:2:2 stream from MPEG4 but it doesn't necessarily mean that I know everything about every two-bit Tom, Dick and Harry who present crap daytime TV shows that only people who've lost the will to live happily sit and watch! |
