# 2 made me laugh

"In May 1988, an elderly woman from Blackpool, incensed that she was unable to receive Radio 4, shot a BBC commissionaire in the reception of Broadcasting House. The bullets were blanks."

At least Radio 2 fans aren't that obsessive!

#8 is interesting as well

"In May 1980, the nation was gripped by the Iranian embassy siege. At one stage the gunmen demanded that a message be broadcast on BBC radio, but since the Radio 4 schedule could not be interrupted, the statement was put out on Radio 2 instead. The gunmen, tuned to Radio 4, missed it."

and # 20

"20 The Shipping Forecast feels as if it’s been on Radio 4 for ever, but in fact transferred from Radio 2 in 1978. Its place on the airwaves is now preserved only by popular sentiment – technological advances have long since made it redundant as a source of information for sailors."

For me radio 4 is the best station out there, yes I know this is a radio 2 forum but I don't listen to it anymore, not even Wogan, I listen to the Today program now.

Can't quite take to the Archers though Laughing

Never liked the Today show. I think Humphreys is boorish and thinks his opinion is more important than his interviewees.

As it happens I like Humph but it is not always him presenting it. It's often Ed Stourton, James Naughtie, Sarah Montague and Carolyn Quinn.

John Humphrys is easily the best interviewer on the 'Today' programme, in my opinion. Ed Stourton is pretty good but Jim Naughtie is so predictable as a New Labour groupie. The ladies are so-so, nothing special.
When 'Today' finishes I switch to Tony Snell on BBC Radio Merseyside, then back to Ken Bruce and Jeremy Vine until 2pm. Then the radio goes off Radio 2 till 7pm! Rolling Eyes

Its getting into it that I'm worried about, the day that happens I'll have turned into my mum Laughing She's addicted to it.
I've lost count of the number of times I've phoned her and she's said, "can you phone back dear I'm listening to the Archers" Laughing

Your probarly right, nice bloke, but the show is getting rather boring for my tastes. Just listening to it this morning and seems like it with the same old. People still enjoy his banter.

I sure he has a time limit too leave if he does?

Very Happy
