A department store near us opens its Christmas section around the August Bank holiday each year. And the town's Christmas lights are being switched on on 1st November this year!

As someone who lives with a person who works at Argos HQ i know full well that now is the period when people starting buying for Christmas, so it makes sense. And with shareholders and 32,000 employees to look after it's understandable.

Personally, I find it offensive to hear all the usual crap being played on retailers' sound systems in stores from Nove 1st onwards (and earlier in some places).

Christmas is just a heap of BS.

Radio never plays 'Jesus is coming' by The Bellamy Brothers for some reason. Must be the use of the word 'p1$$ed!' As in 'off' not in the UK vernacular for being drunk.

Tha Argos add is filmed in Newcastle upon Tyne. Anyone who knows their Geordie landmarks should be able to recognise them.
