Whilst the BBC celebrates 40 years he's out the country. Is he scared incase he bumps into some of his old mates from Radio 1 at the weekend.

While not a great fan of Marks, I can't wait till he's on as I'm starting to despise Steve Wright with every fibre in my body.
As I've said before we have Radio 2 on at work and are not allowed to keep changing station.
Our ages range from 19 to 68 and we all hate Steve Wright (apart from the odd 60's record that nobody else plays.
The constant repetition of the same pathetic kiddies records (J-Lo, Girls Aloud, Enrique Iglesias etc) for weeks on end.
The complete lack of respect for the (ahem) non stop oldies.
The complete lack of effort with the guests, one or two of the same old questions ( when did you realise you were a superstar) then it's "we've gotta take a break" followed by a record he's played a million times already. Then it's another question- "I love your songs especially this one", which get's played halfway through and is NEVER played again until the guest is in again.
Then it's bye to the guest and it's all over in the space of about 5 minutes (Tommy Steele was the latest)
Sorry to rant.

Rant away, Gaz. I've started a 'rant list' which I add to whenever Wright annoys me. So far it lists 19 annoying traits that he does every day. When I reach 20 I'm sending it to Lesley Douglas, Jenny Abramski, Mark Thompson and Mr Wrong himself.

Don't forget to put 'Love the show Steve' at the end of your message or he'll ignore it!! Laughing

No. 16 - Reads e-mails out loud without having read them to himself first which means he gets confused and stumbles over the words

So on this basis, I figure if I start with "Hey Steve, can you say hello to all the guys at the plastics factory" and end with "love the show" he might just read it out! Laughing

What are the others Ian? or would it take too long to list them.
It's the music that gets me the most though, it's virtually the same everyday.
They should have a quality control person who is made to listen to the shows every day.
Surely they would then say "Come on Steve you're getting paid loads of money and you're putting zero effort into your shows"
I even listened to Sunday Love Songs the other week and he was playing the same songs as he played during the week.
Some of those I would never class as lovesongs in a million years.

It's really great to read messages on this thread which basically say Steve Wright is dreadful and it's about he was let go and replaced.

I gave up listening to his daily show years ago for a lot of the reasons mentioned above.

When are the BBC management gonna "wake up and smell the coffee" with regard to the current incumbent on the 2-5pm slot on Radio 2.

It's only a radio show, why the need to despise or hate someone you have never met?

Presumably Liza Tarbuck is busy this week? Shame, she's got more personality in her left ear than Ms Forbes.
