She should be back covering hopefully on Radio 2? It depends on her commitment as she's still the breakfast host on BBC Coventry? I wonder if her brother Andy will be back?

At least she doesn't give one manic depression like Sarah Kennedy does! Shocked

I like Liz Kershaw. She's down to earth and very much underused by the BBC!

Mainly because she was suspended for 3 months.

I wasn't on about that. I know she was suspended for 3 months. I was stating that Liz Kershaw is underused by 6 Music. She used to be on there full-time until some bright spark decided to demote her to weekends only. She'd be much better off on Radio 2. Whether she replace Lady Muckingham at 6am, Mr 1985 at 2pm or hosted a new late-night show (say 11pm - 1am), she would be an asset to the network. I'd much rather hear Liz Kershaw on Radio 2 than the likes of Dermot O'Leary who cannot host a radio show for toffee.

Perhaps because she was a 5 day a week show already on BBC local radio

Only when she lost her weekday show on 6 Music. She could hardly survive on a pay cut after demotion. Further insult to the woman when she lost her Sunday show to motormouth Russell Brand in 2005.

Yes Scott. Obviously she is not going to be given a high profile promotion to Radio 2 daytime after being suspended for faking competitions.

But then again Chris Evans got sacked from Radio 1 and again from Virgin (as opposed to merely suspended) and still, alas, ended up on Radio 2!

And you know that for sure do you?

Chris Evans was sacked from Radio 1 and Virgin Radio for bad timekeeping and his arrogant demands.

Sarah Kennedy has got herself into hot water umpteen times in the past.

Jon Holmes was sacked from Virgin Radio for encouraging a child to swear live on-air.

All three of them are still broadcasting for the BBC despite their antics. Therefore, why should Liz Kershaw suffer when her colleagues are no angels?

I almost forgot to mention ex-junkie Russell Brand, who was sacked from MTV. Lesley Douglas seems to think the sun shines out of his arse. She also feels the same way about Chris Evans and Jon Holmes - both of whom are lucky their careers didn't to an end after what they got up to.

Says a lot about Lesley Douglas, doesn't it? Whoever will she recruit next? Pete Doherty?

Because the fakery issue is top of all the newspapers. The Commons media committee are still inquiring into it. Do you really think the BBC is going to promote someone who has been the subject of censure by the Commons committee right now?

Different circumstances. As you well know. And not the subject of an Ofcom & Commons Select Committee investigation

you really dont seem to understand the politics of it. Peter Fincham had to resign over the Queen fakery. Kershaw is lucky still to have a gig at all on the BBC, let alone get promoted.

I understand the politics of this issue. I also understand that Lesley Douglas has promoted three radio presenters who have a bad reputation and have been sacked for it. No wonder some listeners are pissed off with her.

What Liz Kershaw did was wrong - that stands to reason. However, at least she hasn't been sacked for a) bad timekeeping, b) unreasonable demands, c) being a junkie, and d) somebody who cannot be trusted.

I have heard some of Jon Holmes' Saturday show on 6 Music and it's trailer trash. He's an ageist, arrogant tosser. I don't know if he still has the feature on his show, but it was called "The Old Gay Whistle Test". Basically a homophobic radio feature that some listeners complained about.

Well she hasnt promoted either Sarah Kennedy or Chris Evans Evans was rehired after a 5 year absence from the airwaves. His life today is subbstantially different to what it was in the late 90's. Even your mates in the red top rags dont seem to be able to dig up any dirt on him these days. His nose has been completely clean for the 2 years he has been on Radio 2.

As for Kennedy, we will see in time.

Chris Evans was promoted from Saturday afternoons to Drivetime in April 2006. As for Sarah Kennedy, I am surprised she has managed to keep her job for what she has got up to these last 8 years.

In 1999 she was apparently "drunk" when she sat in for Terry Wogan. She insulted the newsreader (John Marsh, I believe) and made a number of offensive remarks during the broadcast. Between 2001 and 2003 she had loads and loads of time off sick. Jim Moir let her get away with it. However, in December 2004, Sarah Kennedy was given a stark warning from Lesley Douglas about her bad timekeeping. Sarah was then off the air for 5 weeks "by Doctor's orders". Since then, her punctuality has improved but this particular year she has taken loads of time off sick again.

In 2006, she branded a couple as "thieves". Once again she abused her position as a broadcaster. If she had have called me a thief live on national radio then I would have sued her and made sure she lost her job. The woman should have been pensioned off years ago. She is an atrocious broadcaster.

Might I suggest the BBC Radio 2 website includes in these important facts in the following profiles:

Sarah Kennedy

Often calls in sick. Makes controversial and offensive remarks on the radio and often sounds like she's trollied.

Chris Evans

Was sacked from Radio 1 after demanding Friday's off. He insulted his boss, mocked Anna Frank's Diary, often called in sick and would be seen stocking up with booze later in the day. The booze and bad timekeeping side of things cost him his job on Virgin Radio.

Russell Brand

Sacked from MTV for his behaviour. Is also an ex-junkie and keeps on banging on about it.

Btw its Anne Frank. Unless it was some other girl's diary called Anna.

Well you should include Johnnie Walker in your list as well as he was reinstated after being found guilty of possessing cocaine.

Johnnie Walker is another one. Thanks for pointing him out. He's lucky he kept his job although the press did their best to stir the pot, especially The Sun newspaper.

Well he is the only one with a criminal conviction, so presumably by your morality league table, he should be the first out the door Wink

I can assure you that if I had have been the Radio 2 boss in 1999 (when Johnnie was convicted) then yes, I would have sacked him. Any employer would have probably done the same thing. Mind you, Richard Bacon still works for the BBC despite cocaine offences.

Not many sacking then over the years in radio. Remember Radio One and Johnny B got his axe out.

Sarah Kennedy wasn't drunk on air she was ill and really know one knows the whole truth, it's all media and public speculation.

Sorry, Mark, but I beg to differ regarding Sarah Kennedy. She's been accused of being drunk several times in the past. She bares the hallmarks of it sometimes.

Regarding Johnny Beerling, am I right in saying he sacked Janice Long and Jimmy Savile in 1987?

That's the Press Office's story. After hearing the offending performance and being stunned by it, I don't believe it.

She always sounds trollied. Imagine her being on Christmas Day instead of Wogan? It would be Bucks Fizz and Brandy for breakfast - and I don't just mean the singers! Laughing
