I am a big Bob Dylan fan. and have seen him live several times, most recently in 2000 in Las Vegas. Many singer songwriters came after him, including John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty etc, and his influence is undeniable, though many people (not me) say they can't take his voice. One of my own favourites of the 'New Dylans' is Elliott Murphy, who is an American but is based in Europe where he is revered and sells lots of albums. Anyone on here ever heard of Elliott Murphy? |

Hello Phil Jr. Well if you get the chance to hear him sometime, I think you will like him. I've just been watching a DVD of him performing a song called 'On Elvis Presley's birthday', which is a fantastic song about Elliott's childhood memories of his own father. Another song I recommend is called 'Small Room.' This is about a painter and his model and the tragedy that ensues when the painter sees the bruises that her boyfriend inflicted on her. If you like good lyrics and a good conversational style then you will like him. Bruce Springsteen is a fan and has joined him on stage! |
