Gave Dolly Parton her first break. Mainstay of the Grand Ol Oprey for years as well. Had a late comeback last year.

Porter Wagoner was indeed one of the greats in Country Music. His TV show ran for many years with lots of famous names in the genre. A friend of mine used to send me LPs from the USA back in the seventies, when Porter and Dolly Parton were easily the best duet team in the music. I've even got his biography which is called 'A satisfied mind' named after one of his early hits. CMP mag had a big feature on Porter recently and you could tell by the photos that he was really ill.
Dolly Parton wrote 'I will always love you' about Porter Wagoner, even though they later had acrimonius court battles. Still that's Country for you!

I did not know ernie, as you say he was one of country music's greats in the 60's & 70's and I believe he was the first singer to have a hit with Green Green Grass of Home.
