We've sometimes chosen favourite Beatles tracks on these boards. What about extending this to call for nominations for favourite Ray Davies songs, which should be fresh in our minds after his appearance on the BBC Electric Proms?
My Top Three are:
1. Days
2. Autumn Almanac
3. Dead End Street
Nominations from you?
And, re the Electric Proms:

I couldn't really narrow it down to three, he's written so many good / classic songs. viz - the six that have been nominated by the previous posters all qualify. I'm surprised 'Sunny Afternoon' hasn't yet been mentioned yet. So I'd better do it! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

You've perfectly identifed my Top 3 fave Kinks songs. I love 'em! Lots of people usually come up with Lola, but I find it a bit sluggish compared with "All Day..." and "Waterloo Sunset".
Ray Davies is a genius - but we shouldn't under-rate the contributions of his brother, either. |

The Kinks were fantastic and Ray Davies was the dynamo of the group, IMHO. As has been said already, there are far more than 3 Kinks tracks which I could say were my favourites, but I will list just 3 of the many.
1. Lola
2. Waterloo Sunset
3. Sleepwalker

No need whatever to limit your choice to three. I simply did so to get the topic going. Have 5, 10 or 20 if you want!

It never ceases to amaze me with songs like this that I'll still turn the radio up or leave it on until the track has finished if I'm in the car after all these years... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Me too. Mind you, there'd be fat chance of that happening if it were either Evans or Wright, S. playing the tracks in question. But then again they probably wouldn't be. |
