The BBC must be less London-centric, its chairman has said.
Sir Michael Lyons, who heads the BBC Trust, told the Royal Television Society that viewers' loyalty to the broadcaster was dwindling as a result.
He said people living outside the capital did not see their communities reflected in BBC programmes.
In his speech Sir Michael also acknowledged the public's concern over high salaries of on-screen talent like Jonathan Ross.

I suppose they have started to do this for BBC Local Radio, introducing well known voices who have worked on the main BBC Radio stations? |

I have to agree with him on this one, some folks seem to think nothing happens or indeed matters outside London.
I still think he is shifty looking though, I wouldn't buy a used car from him |

Perhaps they could start by re-investing in regional broadcasting and reverse the trend of minimising regional outposts to little more that news opt-outs.
I can't believe the contradictory standards within the BBC heirarchy. These MBA grads spend too much time in Soho wine bars and too little time out at the coalface.
It isn't what it was like back in the good old days! |
